Interested in being a contributor for EcoModder's Facebook page?

EcoModder has had a Facebook page for a long time, but it was never well used... and eventually abandoned. Turns out the admins of EM aren't heavy social media users.

(For more detailed discussion of where this is all coming from, see: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...etc-26810.html )

At cbaber's and others' urging, we'd going to revive EM's Facebook presence, taking a crowdsourcing approach. So, we're looking for volunteers willing to act as editors/contributors for the page, to post occasional info/pics/links from the forum (and potentially interact with FB users).

THIS thread will be a place to keep track of who's interested, plus lay out suggestions for the kinds of things to post.

My suggestion is that info/pics/threads meant for general (offsite) consumption should be topics/projects that are somewhat "meta" -- things that will catch the attention of a wider audience (EG: Old Mechanic's DIY tadpole streamliner build), not stuff that's too specific (EG: troubleshooting lean burn on a Civic VX).

We already have a decent list of "meta" threads to use as source material -- these are the threads that Tim and I have been selecting to appear on EcoModder's home page. (Currently that list isn't paginated, but I'm planning to do that -- there are 137 threads in it right now, but only 20 or so show up on the page.)

Anybody else interested?

FB posting guidelines:

--- 3-4 posts to the timeline per week should be good. (That's 3-4 total, not 3-4 for each contributor!)

--- Posts made as "EcoModder" should be general (as opposed to personal) in nature. By that I mean, when you're logged in as EcoModder, you're not you... you're a forum. To post/comment about a personal success/project, please post under your personal FB name.

--- When posting as "EcoModder", please use proper English (watch out for spelling & grammar).

YouTube:

- cbaber
- me
- Daox
- Gealii

Twitter:

(Ultimately we'll expand this idea to include EM's Twitter & YouTube channel as well, but we're starting with FB for now.)

Thanks! We're definitely going to do that too, once we get FB rolling.

I am interested in helping, but since we have the sources, it seems like fb, yt, twits, so on, only need one manager- it seems like too many chefs can ruin the soup, and over posting could bring down the value to a point. I support it, and will look for ways I can help!

I agree about overposting. The idea for multiple contributors is overlap & redundancy, increasing post volume.

We could work out a simple schedule, like: "I take Tuesdays" . :P

We should probably also talk about what's a reasonable post volume. Another self-regulating control: good "meta" threads don't come up every day - Tim and I only add to the front page thread list maybe 2-4 times a week. Is that a reasonable FB post/Twit frequency? (I dunno... I hardly use them now.)

I would be interested in helping out anyway I can. I have my own FB page (not my personal), so I have a little bit of experience with posting (quality and quantity). I could also help contribute to YT. I've never used Twitter, but there's a first time for everything. Don't forget about Google Plus as well (in the future).

I assume multiple managers would be similar to the way you and Daox co-manage this site?

Having a couple mods for each site would be good then if others wanted to recommend a thread or article they could pm a mod.

As far as posting For FB that seems reasonable a few posts a week. Twitter's more of a high content posting site.
Then as far as youtube very few postings would be needed as quality videos take a decent amount of time to edit and finalize (if a higher quality, new computer is used).

That's a good idea: getting people to suggest threads.

For YouTube: we have users who create good vids, but they post them to their own accounts. Personally, I see EM's YouTube value being more about setting up some really good playlists (of other people's videos) on a range of topics relating to driving & modding.

---

Thanks to everyone who's expressed interest so far.

That would be a good idea as-well as having the option of a playlist or having another doing the edits.
