Mirella TS230

an ebay listing to an old mag copy of it
Wheels Nov 83 Alfa GTV6 Nissan Silvia 505STI Supra Mitsubishi Magna | eBay

The car looks 1990s, but was made in the early 80s. Conceived by a doctor in Melbourne, Mike Clancy, Mirella has a six-cylinder turbocharged engine, 2.3 liters, from the British brand Austin. It is mounted transversely behind the seats.

Tubular chassis, a body designed by dress coined by Clive Potter, Ford of Australia, is extremely well proportioned, and has doors opening like the Lamborghini. Used for several years, had the engine replaced twice, first by a Mazda rotary, and then by a two-liter turbocharged Lancia.

A real drag to haul around, but when the cars/trucks are offloaded, the trailer becomes a sleek design.

If I had one of those, I'd fill the side openings with Plexiglass and use it for a garage.

More here.

The SIM-LEI all-electric vehicle will have twice the range of a Nissan Leaf
Bizarre-looking Japanese EV is most aerodynamic production vehicle ever - SmartPlanet

Quote:
The SIM-LEI all-electric vehicle has a drag coefficient of 0.19, which means that when it goes on sale in Japan around 2013, it will be the most aerodynamic car ever to be mass produced. That means it will achieve twice the range of an all-electric Nissan Leaf -- a total of 186 miles -- with a battery pack of approximately the same size.

Notice the date (2013)? That is the one that got me going on this:

More lately I've been thinking about a body kit that would mimic the Porshe Carrera GT between the axlelines.

The rear scoop would be moved back to allow the squared off door and it would consist of a rocker panel/lower door fill panel and three pieces that would replace the stock chrome trim. If they were solid and structural they could serve as external anti-intrusion devices. One more reason why it's a good idea. Thanks for reminding me about this car.

Toronado for 10 – Glenn Pray’s fiberglass front-wheel-drive Kruise-Aire
featured posts | Hemmings Daily

Quote:
Pray designed the Kruise-Aire to be built from two fiberglass halves that joined together at the beltline “like a walnut shell,” Malks writes. It would sit on a 120-inch wheelbase – just an inch more than the Toronado’s – and use the Toronado’s rear suspension as well as a number of off-the-shelf parts, including a Corvette front bumper, Pontiac headlamp doors, Camaro taillamps, GM pickup windshield, and 1934 Auburn grille screens. Aside from the driver’s door, it had only one entry door for passengers on the curb side. “It was more meant to be chauffeur driven,” Royce Kershaw Jr. said, countering Malks’s assertion that the Kruise-Aire was a sort of proto-minivan. - See more at: featured posts | Hemmings Daily
