http://www.automobilemag.com/news/six-cars-we-couldnt-ignore-at-the-2015-tokyo-auto-show/

I like Okuyama's kode 9 a lot. The [eight] windsplit fenders and Porsche Speedster size is everything the Corvette Stingray could have been but wasn't. In fact at this point my ideal car would a kode 9 below the beltline with the front fender pontoons extended forward [to match] the Volkhart-Saggitta V2 above the beltline and the ZF electric rear axle from the 2016 RAV4 hybrid.

Except... looking for the above pic I happened across the Toyota FCV Plus

ibid

To get that rear underbody, you'd need the ZF twist beam axle:

Cars | Electric Twist Beam - ZF Friedrichshafen AG

Edit: Here's Torchinsky on the Kelly Corvette.. The only thing I'd add is IIRC Vignale did the body in aluminum, and those are Pontiac finned aluminum drum brakes.

2nd edit: Does it never end? Here's a car show roller from France in 1949 that landed on a Simca chassis:

1949 Georges Irat convertible by Labourdette

The guy moved to Morroco and built these:

But wait, there's more!...

Nice wheels.

I saw my error and went back and added the names of the 1949 Georges Irat convertible by Labourdette and 1957 Abarth 750 Coupe Goccia. That post was getting verbose, so I saved these until kach22i had posted:

1932 Arrow Plane

Quote:
The Arrow Plane, which still survives, is probably best known as the spiritual predecessor/prototype for the six Ford-based streamliners built in 1933-1934 as display vans for McQuay-Norris, a St. Louis-based auto parts manufacturer.

Quote:
This one, however, we can only try to identify with educated guesses. As mentioned in Gottlieb’s story and in our post on the Arrow Plane, Hill also built a land yacht for Grove Laboratories and a streamlined bus for Bromo Seltzer....so it could very well be one of those two projects.

Today I saw this on the highway. What the heck is that spoiler? Isn't a Focus front wheel drive? The new Prius kinda has the same thing going on in the back, does it actually help anything?

GM did the same thing on the 2003-2008 Pontiac Vibe GT (Toyota Matrix):

More 'show' than 'go' IMHO.

Not sure if these truly belong here, but perhaps they deserve some analysis.

Take the driver out, put a cover over the cockpit and it could be fairly aerodynamic?
