Bummer!

Man, sorry about the Geo -- add it to the list of unkillable cars: Dodge Dart, etc.

Thank goodness you're OK! Classic Landon statement, "I've never crashed so comfortably in my life". Unbelieveable it still drives...

Best to you in resolving the matter.

Schultz...hilarious! Great way to keep it light, and Top Gear-esque.

The temperature was just hovering around the freezing mark today, so for the very first time ever I rode my bike all the way to downtown Winnipeg. 23 kilometres 'round trip.

Clearly I need to add a rear fender to the bike. Even when carefully avoiding puddles and slush, I got a some mud on my bum and jacket. All the cars except for one Dodge Magnum were pretty good at sharing the 60km/h, six-lane road so it was surprisingly enjoyable. Just a few more kilometres to go and the bike will surpass the distance/$ threshold of the Ford Tempo

Blog #4: meet Gloria! (and all her glory)

Well after nearly three weeks of silence from my insurance company, I finally got a phone call yesterday morning confirming that a claims adjuster will come this week to appraise my car. I also thought this would be a great opportunity to show you my other $200 car. Up close and personal .

The bike has also been chugging away well. It's sad that I spend money to eat at a restaurant and then by the time I get back to my dorm, I'm hungry again from all the exercise!

Vlog #5: Pedaling up a Party

After my first bike got stolen, I bought another for $40. It was maybe an angel in disguise because this new bike looks prettier and is much faster than the first (drive train is much more solid). I've noticed TONS of bikes on the road lately in Winnipeg and so I'm quite pleased .

Also, I get $990 for the Geo. Even with the $700 deductible, that's only $655 a year in depreciation, so that's not too bad.

Someone! Start joining in on the fun. I'm just too giddy to do this alone .

371 Km -- You could bike that!

How long did it take you to bike 37 km? Just multiply that X 10 to get to Regina... and you're home! Man...90-bucks for the bus -- that's like $150 U.S. Westjet isn't cheaper???

JK...good work on the car-free lifestyle! I'd love the opportunity, but alas the job requires it (mass transit sucks in the Midwest U.S.) -- OK, most of North America...

What are your plans post-Winnipeg???

It took me a while. According to my speedo, I was only doing 17km/h average so probably 2 hours. Regina is 375 miles away (or about 600 kilometres) so even if I averaged 25-km/h on the highway, that would take me *calculates nerdily* --- 24 hours! Wowser.

I never did check Westjet. EDIT: I just checked. $79 if leaving on Tuesday (taxes extra I'm sure)! 1 hour/6 minute flight.

I'm not too sure what I'm going to do in Regina actually. A part of me wants to try working at a furniture store again, while another part is pessimistic and wants me to be a parking enforcer and ticket people downtown to release some stress . Heck, even McDonalds there is starting people at $9.00 a hour ! I eventually want to rent out real-estate for a living.

House prices in Regina have gone nuts in the past 2-3 years so I'll no doubt be living with my parents for a while. Windsor Ontario is looking greener (in terms of house affordablity, not jobs).

You already have my respect, Landon. This only reinforces it. Best of luck to you.

It would be hard to give up my car, but I would compromise and get a velomobile if only I could find a route that was safe. I like pizza, but not road pizza. There's no real public transportation were I live (in the 'burbs).
