Mine is the 98 civic but they are very similar in body style, and i have wondered if the angle of the rear bumper cover's bottom edge is close enough to define a good angle for a diffuser. What do you think of this pic?



Look like your rear bumber cover? I think it might define an angle that can also clear the suspension parts just behind the gas tank.

I don't think mine has as steep of an angle as yours. Mine looks flatter. Even if mine doesn't achieve the diffuser effect just having it as a rear belly pan would be great.

This is a great thread. My son is driving my VX at the moment but I am excited to get it back and do a warm air intake.
