Wow. What about getting parts for a Prizm? I was told that they never knew whether to order Chevy or Toyota parts.

I try. Sometimes it really seems like I shouldn't, though.

Just filled up. 45.7 with the new sensor there's room for improvement yet so I'm going to wait one more tank to start using the block heater. Then I'm hoping I'm at 50

Nice. I would bet that 50 is possible given decent driving conditions. The extra weight (and bit of aero) difference shouldn't hold you back too much compared to the hatchbacks.

Yea I think the weight is my main obstacle. I have extra Vx wheels so I might weigh one as compared to the donut and see if it's lighter to drop some pounds. I've promised myself to not alter the physical appearance too much. I have some aero mods in mind. It still has rear mud flaps on it haha. Those def have to go and I would like to install partial belly pans. A grill block wouldn't hurt either. I pull some pretty big hills especially on my way home from work.

Are you sure about the aero? I'm not certain about a Civic Sedan, but the Coupe has only a slightly lower roof in the back and a moderately better rear window angel than the sedan, and it's aero drag is better than the hatch. The Coupe is a 0.32 and the hatch an 0.36 because the high bluff back of the hatch is all wrong, apparently. These are sixth gen numbers, but since the fifth gen civics were not radically different in overall share from the sixth gen, I have to think the hatch is probably a higher drag car than the sedan. There was an added aero package on the VX, most notably the standard airdam or chin spoiler. And of course it had wheels that were less than half the weight of the standard steelies, reducing rotational mass by about 80lbs.

I think I've seen that too. There is a slope to it so the air doesn't drop off as hard as the hatchback does. But the hatch makes up for it in the weight savings department.

Whoops, you are correct that the sedan has lower Cd than the hatch, my mistake

At the end of the day it helps the point I was trying to make that the sedan should be able to break 50 mpg, despite the extra bit of weight. That is assuming decent driving circumstances, such as not really short drives.
