I love rice. It's another thing I cook in the sun all day, if I know I'm going to eat it later in the day. I also love it with milk for breakfast.

[QUOTE=Christ;114824]Wonderboy -
I do enjoy a piece of meat once in awhile. After all, I have teeth specifically designed for consuming meat...

I don't think you will find molars in a real carnivore, but the best indicator of our natural diet seems to be that we don't drink by lapping with our tongues.

I think he meant incisors... we're certainly designed to eat some meat. We've become clever enough to be able to sustain ourselves healthily without it which, given the other luxuries we have, is a noble choice. I personally think the most merit in this choice is a refusal to perpetuate or support our huge bloated unsustainable food system. If we were to eat by our "design", we certainly wouldn't be eating any dairy products, as they are baby cow/goat/sheep food - not people food. Another interesting idea (that I don't subscribe to) is that many vegans claim that its impossible to "consent" with an animal to take it or its products to eat. Some take this to the next level and claim that plants don't consent to being eaten either, and their goal in life is to perpetuate their species, NOT be eaten. Thus, there are people whose diet is composed of fruits, nuts, berries, (and scavenging for stuff that's already dead) - the plants that bear them "want" them to be taken because the seed will be spread in the feces of the eater.

Alright, so here's my loot from this weekend's CSA pickup:

Cilantro, shell peas, spinach, beets, 2 heads lettuce, zucchini (summer squash), 2 onions, garlic, 3 potatoes. We normally get several choices, other things I could've received were basil, parsley, swiss chard, sugar snap peas, snow peas, yellow summer squash, various other types of lettuce (we got oak leaf). The choices vary by week - this is the first time I've seen potatoes, but this time there were no carrots. It really encourages one to eat healthily and cook more so as not to waste any of this delicious bounty. These veggies are unequivocally more nutritious than typical store-bought ones, as they were harvested yesterday, and didn't spend much time being transported or sitting in a produce section. This is an organic CSA, btw. Please share pics of what you get at your CSA - I'm curious to see what people get in different geographical locations.

My parents have picked a few times. However, I didn't get a chance to make any photos until I saw this very small Japanese pumpkin in the kitchen
