properly and regularly oiled, i'll bet a long time. that has been my experience with the one on my Xt350. Mud, snow, sand-dirt and buried in muddy water often...lol, you know how it is. I will certainly be using one on my Diesel bike. If you can get that kind of mph, i am wondering what the MPG increase will be, even a few is worth it! I sure appreciate you guys, your experience/input and knowledge. It is noticed and much appreciated! :{)

Non O-ring chain it is then , thanks for the info.
I interviewed for a new part-time job yesterday so this may slow down my progress a bit. I think the Gear Commander provided info on chain length changes when changing sprockets.

Long enough to drain the tank and have to re-fill it, in which while stopped you can re-lube, if required of course.

Excess lube is what makes dirt and grime stick to a chain, which is abrasive and can wear them far faster than a clean chain with no lube.

I guess a Scott Oiler would be a good investment if you rack up any miles.

Scott oiler? I'll have to check it out. After the shock of getting back into chain maintenance after 28 years with a shaft bike, I'm suprised to find chain lubing and adjusting is pretty easy. I'll check out the oiler, I have heard good things about them.
Thank you, L&S

(Based on your post #12)

I kind of had to cringe when I saw the nice front wheel covering in your pictures above.

Many years ago, I made a beautiful foam/fiberglass front wheel fairing.

How did it work out you ask?

With no traffic around me, it was great!

But be in close quarters with a semi-trailer truck, is was awful. I lost almost all control of the front wheel due to the buffeting tumbling off the back of the trailer!

Very scarey!

(See Bryan's post at #18 as well; thanks Bryan)

3wheeler, Thank you for your concern. I have ridden my Ninja several hundred miles, often in windy conditions and in close proximity to trucks without issue. For the future I plan to go a frame-mounted dustbin style fairing for the front.
I did encounter handling issues with the fully faired front fender on my Vision. I conferred with Alan Smith who has ridden thousands of miles with his fully faired fender and he advised me to starting raising the bottom edge behind the fork. This worked well and restored my confidence in riding it in windy conditions. The Vision is not as good as the Ninja in handling wind turbulance but I haven't found it to be unmanageable.

Beautiful work on your fender and kudos to you on your Alienmobile!

Thumbs up

I refilled the Ninja today and the results are .... 104.35 mpg!!!!!
Needless to say , I'm very happy with this and am suprised that I was able to break the 100 mpg barrier so quickly. I was hoping for a tankfill in the 80mpg range and now this. I have mentioned in previous posts I was impressed with how easily the bike was running with the 15/41 sprocket combo and I was looking to bump it up some more. I thought I would need to do this to break into the 100mpg range. What a pleasant surprise.

Thanks to you all for your support, advice and encouragement. It means a great deal to me and I truly appreciate it.
