More disappointing walks through the yard

I am back from Pick-N-Pull
no motors yet
no hatch struts
no wheels
not even a dipstick for my neighbor the dipstick
I received an offer of a free motor that is 8 hours away, it would still need to be built also(has the same problems as mine)
I will be installing my Swift tranny this weekend.
I just called my parts chick and ordered all new seals to go into it and I will probly do a clutch disk while I am there.(too cheap to buy a whole kit)
I won't paint it (Johnny's looked good but out of place)
but I will clean it really well
fresh oil and away we go
Pics this weekend after the swap.

I've accepted help

Coyote X (you know the guy who built a tube frame fro his convertible) Has offered to help me get my Metro engine back up to speed.
I just have to go to W.Va. to get the help.
So this weekend (I couldn't go because I am taking care of the Grandson)
I am doing stuff to make the trip less stressful
I am going to put my new (Used, but new to me) bumper on and clean up the front end of the Metro.
Make sure I have fluids, etc for the trip.
Cleon the Swift tranny and get it ready for an install (obviously I will carry it and then we will put the whole thing in as a unit.)
Check other stuff too, like, wheel bearings and lights ah and put my wipers on (yeah that woulda been fun 250 miles from nowhere in a torrential downpour without wipers).
So off I go to do more work.

I just had this awful thought,
Coyote lives in W.Va.
Isn't that where Ned Beatty & Burt Reynolds Squealed like pigs?
(insert dueling banjo music here)

All kidding aside,
I couldn't be more thankful for the help and want everyone to know how much I appreciate Ricks offer.
Thanks Again,
Paul W. Keim

That is great! Nothing better than having an extra hand who knows what he is doing! So, are you driving to the sticks to have him help you do the trans swap or also doing the engine work?

Remember these items.............

Syncromesh trans fluid
New Clutch kit?
Axle seals
Water pump O-ring (just in case you bump it too much)
CAMERA!
Vaseline
Banjo
Huntin' cap

Looking forward to updates.

Question Yeah, kinda, maybe, not really

I'm driving to the stix cause I'm a cheap b@$tard and I can't find a decent motor here in town.
It will cost less in money (gas, fluids, food, etc) for me to get the motor from Coyote that has low miles (relatively) on it. (no re-man necessary)
He offered to help me put it in while I was there.
I could always borrow a truck and just pick up parts, bring them home and replace as necessary.

I have ordered new seals (be here tomorrow)
I will pick up the trans fluid when I get the seals (I need to carry stuff for the ride anyway)
The clutch on my car is in good shape and Coyote has several at his place (save money, used parts)
Hadn't thought about the water pump though (Thanx)
Camera is a must.
This will be an adventure for me, so I must document everything.
Me in town
me at Coyotes place
Coyote (unless he is camera shy)
the hills
Ned Beattys burial mound

I am also going to pick up what parts I can
SO
If any body wants something that is at Coyotes
send me a pm and I will make as much room as possible to bring it all to Ohio.
See you,
S.

So it looks like tomorrow(fri) is the day for the motor swap. We will probably be starting on it around 4 or so I figure. If anyone who is near by wants to come hang out my place is at Kistler, Logan county. Go to the gas station at kistler Trogdons super serve. Turn up the alley beside the station called Bengal Hollow Rd. and drive up it till you cross a bridge, maybe 1/4 mile. The garage is on the left right past the bridge. That should be where we are at. My metro and some other random cars might be out in the yard to give us some more room to work on the car depending on what all we are going to do to it. If not you can't miss the garage, it is bigger than the house it is beside
