2,390 new deaths today and 9,899 in 5 days

Each day I have tried to add more data to my spreadsheet. Yesterday I pulled new cases for the last 30 days. Today I went back 7 more, pulled the state data from the CDC, and population data from Wikipedia. The last one technically varies from day to day, but hopefully I do not need to adjust that number from day to day.

In New York, 1 out of every 634 residents has coronavirus.
1 out of 2,417 in New Jersey
1 out of 3,084 in Washington
1 out of 3,349 in Louisiana
1 out of 5,167 in Colorado
1 out of 5,576 in Michigan
1 out of 5,769 in Connecticut
1 out of 5,996 in Massachussets
1 out of 7,894 in Mississippi
1 out of 8,255 in Illinois
1 out of 9,488 in Georgia
1 out of 10,245 in Tennessee
1 out of 10,758 in Utah
1 out of 11,080 in Nevada
1 out of 12,741 in Wisconsin
1 out of 15,043 in Pennsylvania
1 out of 15,047 in California
1 out of 15,055 in South Carolina
1 out of 15,643 in Florida
1 out of 17,323 in Maryland
1 out of 18,444 in Indiana
1 out of 19,650 in Minnesota
1 out of 20,725 in Ohio
1 out of 20,810 in North Carolina
1 out of 21,830 in Virginia
1 out of 22,327 in Arizona
1 out of 40,554 in Texas

I did 27 states. I am pretty sure there are more than that. I had wanted to do the top 10 today, but I wanted to see how Arizona compared, and I kept going until I had all of the states including Utah and Nevada.

Oil Pan, do you want the numbers for New Mexico?

Does anyone want numbers for a different state?

I have Washington and California, but not Oregon.

So, yes, New York has more active cases than Italy, Spain, and Germany, but California is only 4% as bad, by population, as New York. Florida is about 1/26th as bad and Texas has the lowest percentage on that list.

New York has 47.8% of the cases in the U.S.

The real number of infected in New York is probably around 100k. Expect ~3-5k total dead in a few weeks.

My wife just developed a bad sneeze and cough... She's been dusting off things so that could have triggered it, but one cannot take risks anymore.
We'll strictly self isolate from now on. We have fresh supplies for almost a week and preserves and fridge stuff for months, always had.

The kids and I are symptom free and none of us have any raise in temperature at all.

Edit 2 hours later. My wife recovered remarkably fast. It probably was just the dusting off that got her.
Lots of pollen in the air as here hasn't been a single cloud in the sky for almost a week now; trees are blossoming with a vengeance. I'm allergic to tree pollen. My palate is itching mildly, which is my first indication of allergy. I may get a running nose soon for that.

Ah well. We'll be careful anyway.

For me personally I'm looking on the bright-side of things, really a-lot less traffic. Going to see record high MPG highscores for those still driving and lots saved from so many people staying home. Road deaths must have fallen a big %.
My GPS said I arrived 30 minutes earlier then expected on my 85 mile work trip I took yesterday

The 30MPH limit road (50-80MPH speedway) in front of my house has been very peaceful with cars going way slower. Now filled with lots of bikers and dog walkers.

Still can't get a decent meal or toilet paper from my local supermarket, or dollar store. I'm not driving around store to store looking for it either I typically just get the cheapest store brand. They had plenty of napkins available and plenty of paper towels.
I have a feeling traffic is going to come back with a vengeance after 2 months.

Known cases. We don't have the testing capability to know the full picture and resources have been prioritized to NYC for now.

They are giving members 24 hours to actually read the bill and for the leadership members from each party to figure out how they will vote remotely.

Any bill that cannot fit onto a single 8.5"x11" page 12pt font should go directly into the garbage. Politicians should have to take a multiple choice test on the contents of the bill, and if they get less than 70% they don't get to vote and their pay gets reduced.
