Each day I have tried to add more data to my spreadsheet. Yesterday I pulled new cases for the last 30 days. Today I went back 7 more, pulled the state data from the
CDC, and population data from
Wikipedia. The last one technically varies from day to day, but hopefully I do not need to adjust that number from day to day.
In New York, 1 out of every 634 residents has coronavirus.

I did 27 states. I am pretty sure there are more than that. I had wanted to do the top 10 today, but I wanted to see how Arizona compared, and I kept going until I had all of the states including Utah and Nevada.

I have Washington and California, but not Oregon.
So, yes, New York has more active cases than Italy, Spain, and Germany, but California is only 4% as bad, by population, as New York. Florida is about 1/26th as bad and Texas has the lowest percentage on that list.
New York has 47.8% of the cases in the U.S.
