Once widespread antibody tests are done, the untested dead can be approximated.

You think they are taking samples or this is before the dead are buried or cremated?

theregister.co.uk: Just cough into here, please: Cambridge-developed app slurps the sounds of COVID-19
No stethoscope needed – but you don't get to know the results
Quote:
A team at the UK's Cambridge University has created an application to collect the speaking, breathing and coughing sounds of participants in the hope of building predictive models to "contribute to the early diagnosis of COVID-19".
Development has been led by Professor Cecilia Mascolo from the university's Department of Computer Science and Technology... Mascolo said: "Having spoken to doctors, one of the most common things they have noticed about patients with the virus is the way they catch their breath when they're speaking, as well as a dry cough, and the intervals of their breathing patterns. There are very few large datasets of respiratory sounds, so to make better algorithms that could be used for early detection, we need as many samples from as many participants as we can get. Even if we don't get many positive cases of coronavirus, we could find links with other health conditions."

The Reg being The Reg:
Quote:
You will not learn anything directly from the app. "The app won't offer any medical advice and it only collects data for research," says the privacy policy, which also assures us: "We will not collect identifiers which allow us to identify the user."
Those good intentions are potentially undermined by the use of Google's reCAPTCHA service, used to deter bots from recording their coughs, which means that the app also requires you to agree to Google's privacy policy and Google's terms of service. Needless to say, this policy is not anything specific to reCAPTCHA but the main massive and all-embracing Google affair, and there is no clarity about what happens to the data which it gathers.
Provided you can live with that, the researchers say that they need many participants so maybe it is time to cough up. ®

Nah, it's that asymptomatic people are almost all going to still be alive in a month or two or three, so you will have a good idea of how fast it actually managed to spread, and can calculate approximately how many would've died without getting tested.

Do we have any data on what percent of people are asymptomatic?

The numbers floating around were 30-50%, I didn't look into the methods they used to get that (medicine is unfortunately full of bad use of statistics), but it's consistent with the modeled mortality rate of 0.5-1% (vs. a bit higher observed in confirmed cases), so my gut feeling is that's about right.
You can use metadata on patient reported date of onset of illness and hospital capacity to determine how many people would've died at home to pretty good accuracy.

Suspicious 0bservers report a Cosmic ray health alert. 24 hours of KP 0, and the subsequent twelve hours.
At risk are cardiac and mental patients.

107 year old Corona survivor
A 107 year old woman has recovered from COVID-19...
https://www.rijnmond.nl/nieuws/19413...erleeft-corona
Cornelia Ras developed mild symptoms of Corona (a fever and coughing) 10 days after attending a church service in Sommelsdijk which infected 2/3 of all attendees. She tested positive for COVID-19 but has since recovered.
The day before she got ill she and her family celebrated her 107th birthday. Luckily nobody else got ill.
Other inhabitants of her home for the elderly were less fortunate; 41 got infected and 12 have since died. But at least age is no reason to lose hope.

So what are the odds they conspired to sing hymns together?
