Well its narrower (2 lanes each way) filled with potholes, prone to Fog on the sunniest of days, mindnumbingly boring, crawling at 20mph for miles on end..and its the road to my work, so yeah

Well, for better or for worse I've joined Team Nissan. "Worse," actually; I'm afraid my first half-tank fill dragged the average down considerably. But I anticipate better: I managed about 45 MPG on the 5-mile return leg I just pulled from the Chinese restaurant, and that after almost 40 MPG outbound (read: car barely warmed up). Add my unfamiliarity with her sweet spots and tons of idling to run an inverter (still no power here and FEMA deemed my county "the hardest hit locality [by Hurricane Irene] in Virginia" and I see a bright future for this car's FE (relatively speaking).
Though maybe we should start a Team Versa so as not to drag the Sentra guys down? (Or to show 'em how it's done, he he!)
Anyway, thanks for your patience, and my numbers should be looking better soonest.
Rick

Well, you're beating the EPA numbers by a bit, and with an automatic, so that's good for starters! And the 40/45 mpg trip for Chinese food is WAY better than EPA.
I'm working on some future plans for my Non-Nissan, hoping to get its average up over 50 mpg...

Apparently, Polar got tired of Team VW getting whupped on by Team Honda, and saved the day. Thanks for the boost .

Wow! Well done, Polar! I have no comeback to that, I already have my best posted.

Introducing Team Cummins
Today markes the official beginning of Team Cummins. This team is open to any vehicle that's powered by a Cummins engine. So far, I think this means folks with a Dodge 2500 or 3500 with either the 5.9 or 6.7 liter engine. I'll be PM'ing people I already know. There's at least 5 of us I know of.

Let's show folks what our Cummins' can do!

I am in love with Polar's car. Imagine what modding and hypermiling will do with it. Congrats too on pulling slightly ahead of Honda in the team-to-team ratings, but I do want to point out that the team Honda has a bit more overall depth: nobody in the 50s could rate as high on the Honda list, the EPA percentages are much smaller on the Audi/VW list, and look at #7... >!< ouch. I'm just saying... we're getting beaten, but hey... there's more than one way to slice that pizza.

I'd say we'll do alright considering that we have all the other teams cars in tow to create our records.
I went back and filled in earliest 2009 on my fuel log and updated signature. Glad the heat is over and I can stop the idling for A/C that was gigging my numbers. But I sure haven't driven much this summer, only averaging about 90-miles/week. Will take awhile to show "improvement" as fillups are spaced.
Guess I could do partial fills . . do the rules address this? Cause I rarely wait till even a half-tank prior to filling for much of the year (hurricane prep).

The beauty of this "competition" is that no matter who beats whom, we all win!

slowmover- Where this competition is more of a motivational exercise than flat out, knock down, winner takes all function( as I understand it), just fill your tank as desired and let the tale of the tank win the day.
Personally, I'm hoping to get ahead of Varn in Team VW on the next fill...oh, and help stay above Team Honda
California98Civic- No kidding about depth, and PaleMelanesian at 180% plus...Du-AMMM!
