Cute as a bug. Could stand to be dropped about six inches.

Sometimes I used to think people would consider me crazy for noticing some resemblance between the early Ford Ka and the VW Beetle. Well, just remind the early Ford Ka is often mentioned in Brazil as the "Ka joaninha" (Ladybug Ka), while the Beetle is known in France as Coccinelle and in Italy as Maggiolino which mean ladybug in French and Italian respectively.

I meant it literally:

I forgot the 'bug's [r]ear' part. And I failed to include your doggo:

The saying 'As cute as a bug's ear' - meaning and origin.
The expression 'as cute as a bug in a rug' is also quite commonplace. Bugs in rugs can't be said to be either especially sharp-witted or cuddly and that odd simile is just a merging of 'as cute as a bug's ear' and 'as snug as a bug in a rug'.

Au contraire.
I'd have capitalized Bug if I were referring to the Type I Kafer. It was idiomatic, so I was just trying to be helpful. Even I learned about that the odd simile is just a merging of 'as cute as a bug's ear' and 'as snug as a bug in a rug'.
Don't hurt me.

I am so used to see only Beetle capitalized when it comes to the Käfer, unless the bug reference is related to the Baja Bugs, that I didn't even remember that
