I remember when Smarts first came out in Canada. I crashed the first convertible one in BC into a wall inside the main office of the auction I worked at, but that's a different story ha ha. There was an article on the news however about Smart drivers getting ticketed for backing up against the curb in parallel parking spots along the street. They are short enough that they usually don't stick out past the cars around them. I forget what excuse the police had for it, but it seemed pretty weak at the time!

When I was about 9 I actually liked the Smart, altough nowadays I just consider it kinda funny-looking.

They ticket motorcycles here for the same reason...it says to "parallel" park, so they aren't parallel parked. Thus the ticket. Makes perfect sense...

I pulled into the shopping plaza today where i have my best finds. And wouldn't you know it, i parked within feet of two grey gen1 Insights! I left an Ecommoder business card under their wipers with my contact info and details of the New England Insight meet this August.

I was beginning to coast down the crest of the one long hill on my drive yesterday morning, and lo and behold I passed another Festiva in the slow lane. It's like sighting a unicorn, I've only seen a couple ever here, so I tapped the horn once and gave the old guy a thumbs-up as I silently slid by him.
The old man goggled at me through his tiny round Teddy Roosevelt specs and his great big walrus moustache like I had blown a train horn. I thought at first he was also shocked to see me, but since my car is barely recognizable as a Festiva now, I think I just woke him up. Half a mile later, as I bump started again on the flat road, he was barely visible in the rear view mirror

Lol, you know it!
Thanks for the heads up, you were one hundred percent correct, and I'd have never thought to even try it.
I now bump start in fifth all the way down to 5 mph, then switch straight into the correct gear (or neutral at a stop sign), and it's waaaaayyy smoother!

A colleague of mine who previously owned a MK1 Insight turned up to work in her new BMW i3 Range Extender version (with the small engine as well) it caused much more interest than the new Nissan Pulsar we were launching lol
Quite a funky thing, some clever designs going on & carbon tub, not so sure about the afterthought "fuel cap" though.
