It's okay to expend as much GHGs as desired, if the goal is to convince others to give up modern conveniences in order to cut back on GHGs. Reference AlGore and his mansion that can consume as much as a small town, or all of them empty-headed actors who fly around on their private jets to spread the message about AGW. In other words, it isn't hypocrisy when they do it.

You are so cynical, I'm sure suspect lives in a solar powered yurt and is the very embodiment of the post technological society which he wants us "humans" to live in.
Or of course the hypocrisy here could be as pungent as the bulltish (copyright Australia)...

Because sometimes some of it might be right?
If people would unplug some isht these nukes would be unnecessary.

Nuclear power plants only provide 20% of electrical power to the grid.
This can be easily replaced in a couple of years by solar, wind, geothermal and natural gas. The greed of less than 10% of Americans are ready to destroy the air, water and land for the privilege of hoarding more monetary funds in their offshore accounts while eons of our descendants suffer the hell. It is going to take 30-40 years to fix Fukushima. It is time to follow Germany's plan to dismantle, not build more.
The Canary Islands sluff off massive amounts of it's mountains every so many years and it has hit the East Coast in the distant past with tidal waves that can go inland for over 100 miles. This would cause another Fukushima disaster. ![EEK!](/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)

If being alive in 2014 means you have to be an energy slob, well then enjoy it while you can, to hell with everyone else, as long as you got yours it's all good, cuz this ride isn't going to last forever.

No it can't.
Germany is a worked example. They are building 10 new coal plants to replace their nukes because renewables don't cut it and can never do so. They have replaced the safest energy source in the world (nuclear) with the most dangerous (coal) and increased GHGs (if thats your bag too).
If you think they can then answer this question - how do you power the factories and plants required to make the windmills and solar panels, or are you just going to get the Chinese to make them for you - using coal of course.

I agree being efficient in energy is a good thing but if its a major issue be a pioneer and turn the PC off.
