New record this year... 5 consecutive fill-ups over 33 MPG with my 4 liter Mustang (and record fill-up distance: 490.1 miles).

This morning's fill-up makes 6 consecutive fill-ups over 33 MPG and a new record of 498.5 miles on a fill-up.

Thanks!
That's the emptiest that tank has been since the car was made.
I'll get to 500 next Summer.

If you wanna squeeze it to the very max, you could do like I have done and carry a 1 gallon (or other size) gas can around with you "just in case". If it runs out before your 500 miles (or whatever your goal is) and you have to use the spare gas, noting the odometer reading where it quits lets you know what you got on the tank, then when you fill up at the gas station, fill the spare can too, so you can accurately calculate your mileage, even though it was more than your tank's actual capacity. ....also helps keep the gas in the spare can "fresh" if you carry it around all the time like I used to with the "White Gnat".
I actually got 800 miles on a tank once, but rolled to a stop before reaching a gas station. So I'm sure glad I had the spare can of gas! And obviously you wanna keep in mind how far that spare can will get you before heading out away from "civilization".
Congrats on your progress though. That's pretty darn good for a Sportscar!!

Thanks. I've considered carrying a spare gallon. My dash display was showing 0 miles to empty for the last 10 miles on the tank. That can be a bit unnerving.
I have a friend who bought a 2.3 liter Focus about 6 months before I bought my Mustang. He told me that he can get 29 MPG out of it if he's nice to it.
I must be doing something wrong.

51.81mpg in my Civic. New record for me, and no fill error indicated by the preceding or following tank! It took some “cheating” as I had some errands to run on some fabulous backroads on the edges of Dallas last month when I got to work. We’re talking 60-75mpg segments. But neither ~300lbs of cargo on the way to Dallas on the freeway, nor a lighter (~75lb) load on the freeway back home seemed to kill it. I’ll surely take that!

Lifelong hypermiler here. 2000 Chevy Metro = 55 MPG all around average, '91 Ford Festiva = 48 MPG, average, herd of 2000 - 02 Honda Insight MT cars = 68 MPG average, '07 Toyota Yaris = 44 MPG average... I've just cheated, bought my way to the head of the class. I've slaved away all my life, is this what it feels like to be a trust fund kid? : ) Last week I purchased a new '19 Chevy Bolt EV. So far, 4.6 miles per kilowatt average, so better than 120 MPG - equivalent. I love all my little ICE cars, but folks, the EV is the future. Range of easy 250 miles, 300 in summer means if the 4 door hatchback Bolt were ICE and got all around 30 MPG, the traction battery is like having 8+ gallons of fuel. Very much a regional car! Cheyenne to Raton New mexico, this Colorado Bolt has me smiling! Fit, finish (too good to be GM?) power and handling - and so smooth! Cheating for sure!
