Right now it's not looking too good. I fractured one of my vertebra back in June
and I'm still in physical therapy and I'm not sure what my schedule will be looking like around that time. It sucks

Setting Angles

What do you guys think of this angle? sorry its not the right angle for a template overlay, but it's the best I could do until I can roll the car out of the garage.

It's nice to get a glimpse of the tail's final form.

Are you just eyeballing the angles or are you using math ?
Once you lay the template over the line drawing ( and have it at the correct spot ), you can simply print it onto a grid and use a yard-stick to scale up and measure the heights you need to be at at a given length.
This is of course with a perfectly level car on a flat surface.

I'm sure you were already using this method, but wasn't sure.

euromodder-It won't be as long as the metal pictured. The aluminum bar came in 8 ft lengths so I'm going to be trimming quite a bit off. I believe the tail will end up being about 3.5 feet from the end of the bumper.

I was just using the string hold method so I could make a rough cut of the aluminum bars. I'm currently using the clamp method the get all the bars to the exact same length so that the back of the tail is perfectly flat.

Please post the materials used and construction technique for those of us who may follow you in the path of many tails.

Wow, i gotta stop planning and start doing! But then i've never constructed anything like that in my life.

26" x 46" unknown gauge of aluminum sheet(Dad picked it off a job site)
x15 1/8"x1"x8' aluminum bar(not all 15 used in boat tail)
x3 1/8"x1"x8' aluminum angle( only used 1 so far but planning to use more)
x10 4'x8'x4mm black/white coroplast from home depot($110 and free shipping)
countless 3/8" fasteners and 1/4" self-tappers

planning on using:
acrylic window
automotive tape
foam sticky-backed weatherstripping
krylon fusion paint

This is all just for the boat tail.

That's what I've used so far. I'll add stuff as I think of it and use it. I'll be converting the first post to a sort of project summary when I'm done so I'll list materials and techniques there
