It might be a good idea to have a copy of the MN law about the mirror, since local police won't know it.

Nice work at not getting any tickets, I'm guessing they see your out of state and don't make a huge fuss over it. I have not been pulled over since I have done my mods, but have been followed a couple of times. Kind of shocked I wasn't pulled over since I was going 45mph in a 55 zone for some off the wall reasion like they thought I'm drunk or something. On a side note, I have been getting people saying "I like your hubcaps" quite a bit now .

What mirrors have you removed? In mi all you need is the inside rear view and a drivers side mirror (not spec if in or out is required).

Look at out wiki page on mirror laws, I put MI in the list and I copied it right fron the state web site.

I will print out the mirror law. Been kind of wondering if anyone would think I'm drunk but it hasn't really happened yet.

Both exterior mirrors are removed in accordance with MN statute 169.70.

Quote:
Every motor vehicle which is so constructed, loaded or connected with another vehicle as to obstruct the driver's view to the rear thereof from the driver's position shall be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of such vehicle.
Anyway, last night I was biking in the ghetto with a friend. My crank broke so the pedal literally fell off and he towed me back via a stripped electrical cord lying next to a vacant lot. He's a bit of a collector so we drove to his place to get me a new bike. On the way he mentioned he saw something flapping under my car- the belly pan. So THAT'S what it was. I ripped the rear half of it off because it had somehow come undone (or maybe I didn't secure it properly). I'll have to put it back on before the drive to MN.

We ended up throwing together a patina'd red 1963 Schwinn American to replace the broken 60's Hawthorne. It'll play well with my green/white '58 Schwinn.

Probe has been home for a week. I need new rear tires YESTERDAY. Went around an off ramp in the rain today and the thing went fwoop! Sideways.

Trying to find my p&g rhythm again. There's a place in the accelerator travel where it becomes more difficult to push down. I think that could be fuel enrichment so I've been staying out of it. Kind of messed up this last tank (not yet posted) because of driving steady state in the rain last night (for an hour). But oh well.

Planning on testing the box cavity this week.

I didn't get a chance to test out the box cavity but I'm getting so antsy I pulled the Probe off insurance and put the Rabbit on for the summer. So, probably not too many updates until I find a job and/or a place to work on it. Probe should be back on the road sometime in November, depending on weather (and whether the Rabbit keeps running nicely ).

Until then, I'll be driving this. Cheers!

No doubt...your friend should look into boxing or marathon running. Dude's got a bit too much energy.

Like the art-car paint job though

LOL that's just him being hyper. Usually more mellow but still silly.

Thanks about the paint job. Actually that's going away, though. After driving across the Midwest and sitting in the forest for months it's getting pretty ragged. The surfaces were not prepped properly which means lots of white paint was flaking off. Due to the time it takes to tape things off to touch it up, I'm going a different route (along these lines).

I LOVE the dazzle but it's just not the best situation for it right now. I plan on getting a dazzle wrap when I buy a VW TDI. That should be less paintenance and whatnot.

Until then, here is a video of the thing rolling. I couldn't repaint it without getting this in action because it's just a joy to watch those wheels turn! Freaking love it. Enjoy.

(will take an hour or so to process)

PS- I also recently added Freja the Rabbit to my Garage to track MPG.
PPS- A boat tail is on the not so long term agenda. I'll be buying materials soon-ish.
