Arghh! My short term to mod list has become increasing a long term to do list!

Can't wait to hear the numbers. I'm sure first driving impressions will be fantastic!

Probe went on insurance today so I filled up with E0 and drove it to my friend's house to get the wiring figured out. He basically rewired the entire trailer light setup while I did some illustration on the new sub box for his Rabbit.

He also looked at the broken left turn signal and is 99% sure it's the blinker module (aka turn signal flasher), a smallish, seven prong green relay type thing. I stopped at O'Reilly's and AutoZone but neither could find it in their systems. NAPA was closed so I'll try there tomorrow. Pray to dog I don't have to buy it from the dealer.

Anyway, first driving impressions. This thing coasts FOREVER!! I will pop it into neutral at the top of a moderate hill at 60mph and at the bottom of the hill it will be at like 58mph. It actually almost coasts too well. The deceleration is so gradual that people behind me get anxious.

70 miles into the tank and it hasn't dropped below "Full".

I'm going to finish painting the tail tomorrow and take some nice pictures.

Any recommendations on block heaters? Type or brand? I have a six mile commute and it seems like it would be worth the money/trouble, especially in the winter.

Not to hijack the thread, but I second this notion

Whichever brand you choose, get a powerful one. You want lots of watts. Shorter warm-up times & higher temp achieved.

I stuck a 800 watt inline tank style heater in the Firefly/Metro after initially installing a 350w external contact element style. Night & day difference.

see if your car has a hole for a block heater, then find the OEM on and get the same size but bigger watts

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try to earn a little money then get one. Will check with Manuel about stock heater holes.

NAPA didn't have the blinker module. Tousley Ford told me it's NLA but a place in Alabama has one in stock for $130. I told the guy, screw that; I'm going to the junkyard. Went to Somerset U-Pull. They only had one 1G, a red GT. Someone had already pulled the module. Figures. So the turn signal continues to not work.

Stopped at my grandparents' place... they like it

Then came home and painted the sides and top. Reinforced and painted the trunk lid gap filler. Made a new grille block that goes ~2/3 the way across the front grille and fits more flush. Pulled the instrument pod apart to screw the turn signal stalk box thing back in and the screw holes are split. Drilled two holes in the pod and zip tied it in place. Perfecto! Put a related piece of trim back on. Strengthened the (wavy) pass side edge of the belly pan. I think that's all. Going to pick up a prescription and take some photos soon.

Tomorrow after the paint has dried 24 hours the stencils go on. There will be one on the back "STAY BACK 50 PARSECS"

I really like the look of the boat-tail !

Can't wait to see a tuft test.

Nice choice of font on the stencil.
I can't make out if the car is matte black or a very dark matte army green. Either way it looks great.
