We don't need more people more that the Han Chinese. They had a generation or two of single children who grow up to not have children of their own. Three retirees for every working family. Oopsydoodles.

I don't have much of an opinion on what optimal population looks like, but I do know we're going to have a depopulation crisis within my lifetime.

Having kids is a real PITA, and some folks have figured out how to not have them if they don't want them. As the world continues bending towards materialism and escapism, more people will decide not to reproduce.

Progressives in the US have it figured out: encourage the present US population to abort their young, and keep the borders open to allow fresh meat coming in to mow the lawns.

A law is being pushed through Congress right now that will allow easy citizenship for "undocumented citizens" who are already here, and some far-sighted patriots in several progressive states are passing laws that don't even require the inconvenience of being a "documented citizen" in order to vote.

Why bother with worrying about citizenship at all? It appears the validity of elections that can be manipulated via the Internet are a pipe dream anyway. Stalin had it right: it's not who votes that counts; it's who counts the votes that counts.

I knew I was risking a political discussion when I commented.

US population growth is flat by births, but we accept a million legal immigrants every year, which accounts for the growth. This is by far the most immigrants any nation accepts, which is fitting considering the US was founded by immigrants. It fills me with pride knowing I live in the least racist country in the world.

I have a suspicion that The Great Political Flip (I don't buy it, BTW) will soon flip back, with black citizens returning to the Republican party.
