Actually the real motivation behind its development might've been lower taxes for tricycles enforced in France at the time, as they were considered a motorcycle.

The economy is the total cost of ownership. Which includes covered storage. It’s minimal in every sense. Fuel burn criticisms are nit-picking .

Hmm. I've never had covered storage for a motor vehicle, so I can't even work on mine for half the year. I still get reliable, economical transportation for under $200 pa for parts and depreciation.
I was in the boat biz, where I first noticed that even though races were frequent, fashion ruled the showrooms. Now, I'm similarly convinced that most of the road gasoline burned is used to convey people's identities, expressed in pop art and luxury.

Looks like the aft end of a concorde with the wheelie bar down for landing.

Yep, but I was expecting the tail light strobe to be a little more pointed.
I suppose optics in at least a 180 degree half sphere was the primary driver here, plus I suppose those type of things are standardized and certified.
All the little extra vanes and stabilizers are fascinating, and of course that tail wheel is a hoot.

That tail light will be buried in the boundary layer anyway. The big red "vane" on the tail encloses the actuator. The little one up top is interesting - possibly an antenna.

Even as a kid I wondered why they did not make windows in the bottom of the (then fixed) cone, to see through during take off and landing. Still baffles me now.
