While researchers including Kamm found that abruptly cutting off the tail resulted in minimal increase in drag, knowing that the ideal shape to minimize drag is a teardrop, Bertoni was obsessed with achieving that while still incorporating practicality in design. (As these evolutionary examples of the Traction Avant morphing into the eventual DS shape 20 years later illustrate.)

Mike Costin did a lot of work to streamline British racing cars in the 50s, but he never managed to see the wheels as a given, to be treated carefully. He just made a shape that could contain them, and cut holes for clearance. The resulting rounded sides were beautiful, but made awkward wheel wells.

I like the triangular shark-body section of the ME-262. The lowered 'equator' directs air over the top but the lack of upward-facing normals limits the lift. ....driving sideways.

Jaray and Bertoni, maybe the Porsche Type 64.

I had a room mate in college that drove a bug-eyed Sprite, so I can relate to this:

Straight cut gears and a 7,800 RPM four with no air cleaners sounds great, but the top needs to be lined with aerogel or something to cut the reverberations.

There's an interesting contrast between the finish on the pedal cluster and brake lines vs the top and the faux patina.

Just A Car Guy: I learned that Cappiello DID some advertising posters for vehicles

Less front legroom than a VW Beetle, but I'd like to see a street rodded version. Maybe with a boat tailed roadster body and BMW i3 wheels and tires.

And yes, the front wheel openings can and should have been improved.

On the other hand: the GoOne 3 has never been intended to be a racing machine. It is a good looking cruiser.

But no, the windshield is not a disaster for daily use. You will need a fan to keep it clean during the colder days (standard in the last production years), You might have some trouble with rain drops - but this is the same trouble as with any velomobile screen and surpisingly less than expected).
Most cumbersome is the deep sun, comparable to a car.

Now that's a kubelwagen. But I still don't know what that is on the tiller. Air horn? Dashcam?
