Threw the muffler on for the two hour drive to the Flat River Ramble TSD Rally based in Lowell, MI (put on by Furrin Group). I navigated for my friend who drove his Mk5 Rabbit. it was a lot of fun!

Going to put the rest of the exhaust on later. Looks ricey but it sounds stock. Better than when I got it. Doesn't even brap.

36 mpg going a bit too fast on the freeway. I need to work on the aero some more.

This week's rain has been dripping onto the drivers seat bolster and getting my pants soaking wet before work. It's huge fun to drive but the "quirks" of a cheap car are getting tough to live with. I've had this car less than six months but there's a change of plans.

I'm a big boy now with a big boy job and I want something amazing. A Lotus Elise is in the plans in the next few years but more immediately I want something reliable, not sh*tty, and "professional". Something to drive year round. Something to have gobs of fun with on the track. Something rear wheel drive.

Honda S2000? Pontiac Solstice? Mazda Miata? The search begins.

LOL it's about the polar opposite of what I want, but always liked the styling. Sad to hear you're not enjoying it. Get a [nice] Civic; they're like go karts.

I know that feeling. Just remember that as an automotive artist, modded cars are professional. Probably even deductible business expenses...

There are quite a few modded cars in the work parking lot. The tech center is pro modded cars. But that doesn't mean a lot of people still don't care for ecomodding ("Why is there cardboard on your car?"). It's not the ecomods that make the car undesirable- I think they improve the car. It's the rest of everything wrong with it.

Went for a leisurely drive around the war zone today after sketching at the art museum.

Oddly, the ghetto is almost an art museum itself.

It's up for sale on the local forum, and I suppose here too. $1200; willing to put cash on top for a RWD, stick shift, fun to drive two seater or 2+2. Miata, MR2, etc

The Civic comes with a full header to muffler 2.25" mandrel bend stainless exhaust and a spare transmission.

Rabbit best: 36MPG
Probe best: 45MPG
Civic best: 52MPG

What's next? Bad MPG!

Face, meet palm. by Tyler Linner, on Flickr

Mirror was in the box top drying. It was under my car to prevent dust settling onto it, and keep the smell out of my apartment.

But when I threw the bike in the car for a mad dash to the Detroit Critical Mass ride, I forgot all about the mirror and smunched it on the way out. There are a few options:

1. glue it back together, bondo and repaint
2. put it together as is
3. get a replacement cheater panel
4. Mount a different mirror there.

Oh, and my window track is officially ****ED. Tried to roll up the window on the way home and it got way off track, sitting about 3cm out from the door frame, flapping in the 40mph wind. Will not move. AHGGHGGHHHHHH

On top of that, I decided to wait a bit to get a new car, so a junkyard trip maybe in order next weekend when I have some money.

The car is so fun to drive but everything around it is such a heap of sh*t.

I've learned to not put anything under my car, after destroying few things on my own.
