Here in New Zealand my electricity price is over $0.38/KWh, but my solar pays me back $o.12/KWh.

$0.38/kWh as the permanent rate? Ouch!

After I made my last post they announced minimum customer charges on ours now and they are swapping our meters out for digital ones in preparation for on and off peak billing. 2019 come back lmao. I need some more of that cheap energy!

I've got one of these, it's even missing the glass baffle off the top like mine. It takes a gas jet, but I want to perch it atop a Stover Tec Firefly wood pellet camp stove so at least my hot water can be offgrid in an emergency.

I remember staying some days at a hotel in Pelotas where the boiler was fed by wood, and that was in 2010. IIRC at least one apartments building here in Porto Alegre still had wood-fired boilers until a few years ago, but I haven't seen any truck unloading wood at that building in the last 3 years.

Yesterday's prices in my area:
Petrol: USD 6.15 per US Gal, EUR 1.48 per litre
Diesel: USD 7.03 per US Gal, EUR 1.69 per litre

On the day that Russia attacked Ukraine, I filled up in the morning for 5.50PLN/L. That same evening I saw a 2km(!) queue of waiting cars to the fuel station, where the price had already jumped to 9-10PLN/L.

Poland gets the majority of its oil and gas from Russia, no way to suddenly replace all of it with a different supplier overnight.
Question is: Purchase from Russia and fund its war? Or boycott Russia, limiting supply on the market, driving the price up, so whatever Russia does sell, it sells for much more?

Not sure about commenting outside The Lounge for terms of service, but IMHO Poland did everyone a service when they didn't take the bait and make things much, much worse.
