Two tips means $200 a pop. For a chrome tube. With a screen on the end.

I think the best way to do a test would be to pony-up for the $16 cartridge and make your own housing. I think there's enough info/pictures on the site to make your own "home-blade", so to speak. Look here :

Blade: How To Install

It sucks that they'd make $16 off you, but I think we need to know the "details" of the material.

What is interesting is that in 2008, you could buy it from their website. Now you have to go through an intermediary like an Amazon store or a muffler shop.

my thoughts are, and i'm not a mechanic, but my thoughts are, if partially blocking your tailpipe increases fuel efficiency, maybe you have other issues?
i'm thinking simple things like a tune-up, exhaust leak, etc, not a major overhaul of the engine.

The solution? TEST IT....

Cast-Iron Exhaust Cutout - JCWhitney

Install this...totally block one side...use the control to vary exhaust blockage and test mpg effects at cruise speed using a scangauge or mpg meter.

Not sure if the ECU would need to adjust mixture based on restriction.

Een-tay-rest-ink. That's a good idea. I seem to vaguely recall a (concept?) car with dynamic exhaust restriction. But my human brain is too small to store information accurately, so I can't remember the details.

Absolutely it improves your fuel economy. By removing $200 in cash from your wallet the vehicle is now lighter and the amount of energy taken to move it is less. Snake oil added to the engine should help too.

Yeah, if anyone is cray enough to spend that amount of money on one part that just bolts to the outside of your car and does nothing, they deserve to have it taken away from them. At least take it to a shop and have aomeone weld it on.

"Sucker born every minute" is supported by that 500 driver. that dual tip is fed by a single outlet from the exhaust. He could have trimmed it back to the single pipe and put just one "blade" on and saved $200

Little known fact but unless it's stainless a clamp _can_ be better. Welding an aluminized piece will end up destroying the corrosion resistance where you've welded it. Ever notice where an exhaust tends to fail? Yes at the welds! The clamp deforms the pipe for a mechanical fit. Removing it isn't as easy as you think! I'm sure anyone else experienced in this area can chime in to confirm what I've said.

Hmmmm, I think you have a point there. I pay for *everything* in pennies. Let's see :

$200 => 20,000 pennies
~145 pennies per lb => 20,000 / 145 = 137 lbs!!!!!!!

Jeepers, my wallet needs to go on a diet!
