The pickup truck wonder tends to suck up to the big boys who promise them jobs so they can raise more pickup truck wonders. Usually jobs that involve tearing things up. So blowing that particulate matter really means they want to pollute and tear **** up.
We are very proud of them....especially when they do this stuff elsewhere so we can have more oil to smoke things up. ![Thumbs up](/forum/images/smilies/grinning-smiley-003.gif)

No, guys, y'all are reading waaaay too much into this. Half of em are high school kids who aren't sucking up to anybody except, they think, girls. Much as I don't attach my hobby of "mileage making" to any political ideology, I don't think the coal rollers do either. It's just rednecks doing what rednecks do.

Anyone who can actually wade through anything of Rand's has a far higher tolerance for boring writing than I do. Read Heinlein instead: you'll get many of the same ideas, along with interesting plots and actual characterization :-)

John Galt FTMFW. Although I liked The Fountainhead better as a read, I admit Dagny had me having a bit of a crush on her. Honestly the big monologue lost me a bit as did the ending of Atlas Shrugged, which I won't spoil for anyone. The last 1/3 of it was a bit draggy.

Ms. Rand was infatuated with an imprisoned serial killer: ayn rand serial killer - Google Search
Heinlein's better, but I like David Brin. He offers contrarian polical commentary at Contrary Bin, where he promotes Adam Smith and trans-humanism. A really bland public speaker, though.

... and she occasionally ate toast.
If you think my comment is irrelevant to Rand's ideology, then realize that her use of public assistance is equally irrelevant.
I was against the $8k First Time Home Buyer Credit, but still claimed the credit when I made an eligible purchase. If I could have voted against the credit, I would have, despite my personal gain from it. Claiming the credit does not discredit my belief that it should not exist.
Rational people do not put themselves at a disadvantage, especially when the opportunity to remove some of the funds from a corrupt system presents itself.
Imagine if someone were staunchly opposed to robbery and were themselves victims of a thief. If later some of their possessions were returned to them, their argument that robbery should not exist is still valid.

Her defense on public safety net use (I believe it was social security?): I paid into it. I'm just using my own money.

They gave away your Social Security money two generations ago. Now they are giving you and I our grandchildrens contribution. Only problem is I have no children or granchildren of my own.
