Tv new interview
Well the aerotrix is getting noticed , I wonder why?
Late last year I was out running an errand for work.... When I got out of the big orange box store a bussnes card was stuck in my drivers door window. At first I thought it was an advertisement but when I looked at the card it was for our local NBC 25 tv station's senior weather man. Nothing was written on the back so I was unsure why it placed there. I have my skywarn weather spotter sticker on my car, so it might hac been because of that.
After work I called the man. It turned out he had seen the car and decided it might be worth a story. He got my contact info and said he would pass the info to the news team. Nothing happend for 4 months.
Yesterday I got an email from one of the news team wanting to know if I would be willing to be intervied and have my car photographed. I am always glad to talk about my car
We are still setting up the time. But it sounds like he wants some gerneric simple info. Then he wants a look at some of the more hardcore mods.
I told you all of this to ask this:
Any ideas on how to approach the interview?
Those of you who have done interviews what did you do tha worked and what did you do that you would recommend not doing?
Other ideas?

Don't mention drafting! If you do, that will be all they publish.

I do not draft, I might mention it as a dangerous thing to do.

What a cool opportunity Weather_Spotter. If it reaches YouTube, I hope you share it with us.
Just keep your answers direct and avoid unnecessary terminology. The audience likely won't car about how a change in Cd relates to fuel economy. They just care that better aerodynamics means better acceleration and less fuel consumed. Simple.
It's okay to concede that your methods are a little unorthodox - that's probably going to be the journalists angle - but get the point across that your actions are practical, economical and safe!
Have fun with it.

You might mention that the mods themselves are not dangerous, but other drivers' reactions often are.
And that almost doubling the car's FE is like paying half as much for gas. (Talking about money, gas prices, etc., is an attention getter )

My idea was to talk about my cost an time to build my mods, then talk about how much $$$ I save a year.
I drive nnnn miles a week and fill up twice every month. With out the mods I would have to fill up 3-4 times.
I was also planning to talk about the extra 5 min of time it's takes to get to and from work. But how relaxing it is to drive this way. How I end up where I am going without being all tence from the rat race of a drive.

I plan on asking for the DVD of the interview and of the news cast. He said it would air in may. Once I have the video I plan on uploading it for all to see.
Any idea how I can get a pic of my car on the home page? I plan on sending people to this site and if my car is on the home page they may be more likely to figure they are at the right place.

When will it air? I'll get your car on the home page before it does.
It's hilarious: whenever gas prices go up, the media come knocking, without fail.
Here's what you should do:
- Prep work: think up a short list (3-5 items) of "take home" points you want to convey. Distill your points into "sound bite" sentences that you can deliver when they're interviewing you.
- Even if you're asked a question which doesn't *directly* relate to the point you want to make, fit it in anyway. It's standard operating procedure in interviews (ever watch/listen to a politician being interviewed? When do they ever answer the questions they're asked? )
- If you serve up some concise "sound bites", you make the reporter's/editor's jobs easier. Those phrases are more likely to make it on the air.
- Prepare a somewhat more detailed, printed "background/fact sheet" that supports your points, and give it to the reporter following the interview. Helps ensure they understood your explanations, and provides them with additional info they can use in their voice-over parts.
