Centurion's BOMBSHELL of a weekend! (Part I)
Saturday July 25th, 2015 Centurion displays at the Inlet, NY Classic Car Cruise and Show.
-

-
-
An internet travel map shows 97.1 miles with 1-hour and 58-minutes of travel time.
-

-
-
These maps are hit-or-miss on both the mileage and travel time, but let's use the 97.1 mile figure anyway.

Arriving at 8:15am, this: is postcard picturesque Inlet, NY:
-

-

-

-
The town is super clean and everything seems to have its own perfect place. The local shops are all easily accessible as are the facilities - Inlet does it right!!!!
-
I regsitered and then quickly set-up the display. If this was going to be anything like the last few shows, Centurion had to be ready! DOESN'T SHE LOOK LONELY? This view won't last long - lol!!
-

-
-
Here was a view worth taking a close-up of: using just over three quarts of fuel to get to the event!
-

-
-
The show cars filled the area:
-

-

-

-

-
-
And then the next 5.5 hours were essentially non-stop with Centurion visitors!
-
The following photos are courtesy of photographer Barry B. O'Brien - Inlet, NY Classic Car Cruise and Show July 2015.
-

-

-

-

-

-

-
Along with so many folks from that area, I had a great visit with Barry!
(The above photo is Barry B. O'Brien next to Centurion!)
-
-
Centurion completed the entire trip flawlessly and excels on the many twisty/hilly curves. Arriving back in Colton, the two gallon tank still had enough fuel to go to another show the following day.... The show and the mileage report coming soon in Part II of Centurion's Bombshell Weekend!!

Centurion's BOMBSHELL of a weekend! (Part II)
-
The 55th Annual Seaway Festival Car Show - Sunday July 26th, 2015
-
One of the longest running car shows in this area ran again!
-

-
-
Centurion only had to drive 32.5 miles to get there and in spite of the heat and humidity - no sweat!
-

-
-
Once again, Centurion got mobbed, but there was at least time for one really priceless shot:
-

-
-
What really made the entire weekend such a "BOMBSHELL", was the overall mileage and fuel usage.
Here's the weekend breakdown:
-
Colton, NY to Inlet, NY show was 217 miles round-trip
-
Colton, NY to Ogdensburg, NY Seaway Show was 63 miles round-trip
-
Total miles driven = 280
Total fuel used = 1.94 gallons! (The tank was for all practical purposes - empty)
Trip Miles per gallon = 144
-
144 miles per gallon is markedly lower than either the 2014 Green Grand Prix (214 mpg) or the 2015 Green Grand Prix (250.64 mpg). In fact, this is the lowest mpg I've gotten since the car has been on the road - so why is this such a "BOMBSHELL"? Mainly because of the drive "to" and "from" Inlet, NY through the mountains.
-
That drive was a worst case scenario due to traffic that would:
1) Ride the brakes on the downhills to remain precisely 4 miles per hour under the posted limit;
2) Would then lose all momentum prior to the next uphill and then decide to "muscle" up it, all the while releasing the stench of rotten egg farts out their tailpipes.
-
Centurion is very able but worked hard to stay with traffic under this scenario. Where she really shines is when you drive her like a loaded tractor trailer. So, driving Centurion in a manner I would never advocate for, I saw the lowest trip mpg's ever - but they were still way north of 100 mpg, and in my opinion that-is-a "BOMBSHELL".
-
Did I mention the deer flies were out in full force?

That has to be the most practical hat in all of Creation. I wish I had thought of that hiking up Monadnock.

AW CRUD! I should have been paying closer attention. That show was almost in my back yard. (I can usually see the international bridge near Odgensburg -- about 19 km downstream -- when I'm playing on the river.)

Going again next year?

MetroMPG,
Didn't realize you were in the vicinity but will keep that in mind. Not sure of next year, but in the near future, it looks like Waddington is having a show on August 8th (rain date August 9th).. That one's pretty close so if possible Centurion will go.

23rd Annual Ticonderoga Car Show - Sunday August 2nd, 2015
-

-
-
Centurion drove from Colton to Bicentennial Park in Ticonderoga, NY.
Due to horrible roads encountered previously, here's the new route:
-

-
-
The joke was on me though... Exiting I-87 onto Rt74 is where the fun began. We have ill tended dirt roads up here that would put the first 6 miles or so of Rt74 to shame. Where is the road tax going in NY these days?
-
Bicentennial Park is nice and there were plenty of cars!
-

-

-

-
-
Centurion invaded the Ticonderoga car show, and although they stuck 'ol "Marla Hooch" waaay out on the end of left field - we had the best spot in the park under a tree!
-

-
-
Pause, rewind and look at the following shot from the Ogdensbugh Show one week prior:
-

-
-
Compare Centurion at the Ticonderoga Show and see the similarity - lol!!
-

-
-
Centurion saw 128 visitors in 5.5 hours and they loved the story and thanked me for the free Centurion momento.
-
There was no trophy for the little car at Ticonderoga but she would rack up another award anyway.
-
This time it's the entire 357 mile loop to the show and return trip home:
-

-
-
The odometer shows 357 which appears to be within 10 miles of the 100% accurate internet map tally:
-

-
-
And I can just see a bit of fuel left in my sightglass!
-

-
-
Centurion is resting right now......
But for those following this thread.....
Know it won't be too long before those wheels are once again rollin'!

Waddington Fire Dept 10th Annual Car Show - Waddington, NY - August 8, 2015
-

-
-
This show is fairly close to home. At only 26.5 miles, I felt it unneccessary to add to the 1.4 gallons in Centurion's tank.
-

-
-
It wasn't long before the show area had a little something for every car lover!
-

-
-

-
-

-
-
It's no coincidence Centurion is parked by the red Mustang. About 40 years ago my father had the Cobra Jet version of this car and as youngsters we loved it! So, as a tribute to those days - I grabbed the opportunity to park next to - and grab a shot of this for my father who will undoubtedly get a kick out of the photo!
-

-
-
Initially there were no visitors popping by to check out Centurion. Could this be the lull of what was to come?
-
Nope.
-
Once the dam was breached, the flood of interested people was non-stop! The cars' owners on either side of me were nice people, and after today are probably very well versed on Centurion's presentation (lol!!)
-
At the end of the day, Centurion would capture her second car show trophy! Before jumping with joy, consider there were three vehicles in the "Special Interest" category - and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place each received a trophy...
-
-

-
-
The small trophy does however, highlight another "Special Interest" item. The item is Centurion's battery and it weighs the same as "four" of today's trophy
