Cool; let us know how it goes. Did you get the 1.8?

I ordered the Base model, 1.6 liter sedan with air conditioning deleted. $10,145 base price, just under $12k with delivery, taxes and other bs.
The $9,995 price is a bit of a bait and switch, there are none available without floor mats so they ding you for $150 for floor mats. Apparently I could have ordered direct from the factory with no mats, but would have to wait a month or more.
I'm looking forward to starting a garage account and a modding thread.

Congrats on the new vehicle. I look forward to seeing what can be done with the 1.6L engine.

BTW, I ordered it in "Coroplast White" to allow for easier modding.

I drove it home this evening, so far I have a very good impression, except it needs a taller 5th gear. The motor has plenty of torque, and there will be some good hypermiling results up to about 50mph, but above that the rpms are too high. The car seems very light and easy to move. I stopped using 1st gear, 2nd gear is low enough to start out in. It drives more like a European car than an American car. However, I am used to driving an old Toyota pickup so it might just be me.

Hi,
The one occasion where I like super low gears in in stop an go traffic -- if you can idle along in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, you can actually get decent mileage. At 15mph, idling in 3rd gear, I can get 40-50mpg. 1st and 2nd are not quite as good, but as long as you keep moving, and use a minimum amount of throttle (like none!), then you can get 20-30mpg, which better than zero, or less than zero.
