I've always wanted to build an infrared heat lamp with body tracking. Attach that sucker to a couple servos and thermal tracker, and have it always pointing at me. Would not work if there were multiple bodies though.
Seems crazy to heat a whole space when only a thin boundary layer of air over the skin needs to be warm.

I use a heat lamp under my desk at home and at work. The rest of my house is 60F but I am cozy.

I have to also keep water lines from freezing.

Cover the walls with aluminum foil and wear black clothes. An omnidirectional heater will 'find' you.

There is an old demonstration house around here somewhere ... they took down the web site a few years ago.
Solar 'greenhouse' painted black inside, white outside, 6 inches of insulation in the walls. Triple glazed windows are the 'top' facing the sun. Inside the greenhouse is rocks/stones painted black with big bunches of holes between(10 inch rocks or larger). Sun just warms the rocks directly. You draw air through the heated rocks when heat is required. Not great efficiency, but it works. Need more heat storage, add more rocks in a larger greenhouse.
Um .. maybe gravity dampers and a small duct to keep air leakage low while it is warming and you don't have the fan drawing air through. ... don't remember all of the details.
I'm sure that the idea has been refined since I saw the demonstration house 20 years ago.

Lister diesel
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_A_Li...Diesel_engines
Quote:
The most successful Lister engine was the D-type engine, introduced from 1931, most of which were rated at 1.5 horsepower at 700 RPM. More than 250,000 'D' engines were built until 1964. They were used for a wide variety of light tasks such as pumping and small-scale electricity generation. The Lister 'D' is still one of the most widely seen vintage stationary engines in the UK.

I have seen reports of molten salt energy storage for GenIV nuclear where by it could send 0% electricity to the grid during peak solar hours and 200% all night long.

We have numerous good ways to store electricity: batteries, flywheels, pumped storage, elevated weights, and others.
Heat boils water to make steam to generate electricity. Using the sun to do this makes sense. Using nuclear reaction to do this - does not make sense.
Molten salt stores the heat, so the steam generators can be powered after the sun goes down.

Don't need to use nuclear reactor to boil water. Burning Coal works just fine.
