When on coming home the first thing you say to your wife is some number, and she says: "Hmpf, you've done better than that".
This happened to me this evening. I told my better half "3.9" (litres per 100 km by the car computer for the last trip, that's about 63 MPG) and sure she knew I've done better(*).
I know I'm an ecomodder and she does too.
(*) PM It so depends on circumstances, it's not fair like this

When you see a guy tailgating you and think "I'm saving that *%@ing moron fuel"
When you rate passing cars by aerodynamic shape.
When your dad is cutting his lawn and he stops at the end to turn around,
your mind screams "turn it off! For heavens sake turn it off while you've stopped!"
When you start to forget what your local petrol station attendant looks like.
When "driving spiritedly" means hitting over 1500rpm when pulling off in first.
When aforementioned tailgater dissapears while going downhill on a twisty country road.
Then there is a slight possibility that just maybe, you are an ecomodder.

Quick story:
I was fueling up the CRX for the first time yesterday, and I had gone EXACTLY 400 miles, so it made it easy to calculate what mileage range I was in as the fuel was pumping. I was SO excited to FINALLY get a glimpse at what I could expect, and was smiling the whole time. The lady in front of me noticed. The fuel pump clicked off, and I was beaming! I was in the 50 MPG range!! The lady inquired as to my excitement. So I told her briefly what I was so excited about. And I was happy to tell her I got 52 MPG! She was impressed, but said my hopes for 100 MPG is probably impossible. Hahaha! We shall see!
If I saw someone getting that happy over their mileage at the fuel pump, I'd say "Hypermiler!".

I do miss that with the civic. The escort just won't quite do it. and the "new" Subi, not a chance.

keep it up!
you know your a hypermiler when, on the way home a jack up truck pulls up along side at a stop light. your head is even with his jacked up wheel wells and you go "bad aero".
same truck, I beat him to 55 and get a roar as he feels the need to "beat me". only to be held up at the next light that I timed right. I go right on past him and pulse up to the speed limit. I know he is coming up on my side as I can hear his tires over the nose of my engine and his.
You think the truck above is getting 10x worse MPG then you are.

I'm just after my first 50-mpg fill with the YARDIS. I'd like to see better, but it's not that bad either considering that YARDIS tanks are the 'dump stat' for the weather I can't ride Teresa in...
