You get out of the control room at work and save 150 kWh with 5 minutes of work.
That'll save more in a day than whatever electricity we use at home during the year ...

YKYAEM if...
... When you go to see family during the holidays a relative asks for your opinion about a car that he is planning to buy. Actually, under the illusion that he is not yet sure and wants your opinion he actually wanted to brag about what is almost his, since he's already pretty much decided. But you give him your opinion anyway. I don't even remember exactly which SUV or crossover it was, but does it matter?
- Look at how much room it has inside!
- It looks like a barn on wheels.
- It's very safe, since the driver's position is high and gives him a good view of the road.
- It looks like it was made to roll over.
- Its wheels are alloy.
- Its wheels are too wide.
- It's got sporty aerodynamics.
- It's got terrible aerodynamics.
- It's got a 3 liter V6, so it not only gets great acceleration and a top speed of 240 km/h (150 mph), but also allows you to drive very economically.
- Yeah, right. Especially at 240 km/h.
- It's got ... [starts listing all sorts of dumb luxurious options and electronic gizmos].
- It needs to lose weight.
- It's even got an amplifier in the trunk!!
- It doesn't even have wheel spats!!

Your 16 mile a week commute has saved you enough gas to finally, finally, finally replace the bumper that has been broken for 5 years, you get it and realize how many holes it had and are now only interested in covering them back up!

16 per week?? As in 3 miles per day? As in both ways?
Wow! The car must have a layer of dust on it now?

The office is 0.8 mile away if I take the back way (more stop signs, less traffic)
And it's 1.3 if I take the the straight way. (Faster, no stops)
I'm considering biking it, but I need to bring about 75 lbs of tools with me whenever I go (Can't take the work truck home yet) and that's too much to have on my back.
In other good news, I fixed a couple things I had been putting off with the car, and can again focus on my e-charger finally.

...when you are leading a small line of cars in a gentle coast up to a red light, when someone decides to break away from the pack and race right up to the line!
...you actually wonder about the aero penalty of the 'student driver' signs.

... when you look at the EPA highway mileage as a good goal for your average in-town driving.

To the tune of "If I Only Had A Brain". (With apologies to Messrs. Arlen & Harburg.)
You know you're an Ecomodder
If you really can't be bothered
Because the neighbours say
That your car is lookin' frightful
'Cause your mileage is delightful
It's the Ecomodder way
It's aluminum and plastic
And a gooey kind of mastic
That didn't set quite right
It's your own divine creation
That goes breezin' past gas stations
It's what Ecomodders drive
I could go on, but I think that's quite enough.
