In 20 or 30 years man made global warming will be laughed at as hard if not harder than the satanic day care nonsense we had in the 1980s.
(Because remember the hole in the ozone was supposed to kill us all by now)
We banned CFCs.

The ozone layer recovered.

Lack of ozone wouldn't have killed us. But skin cancer is never any fun.

And high UV levels would have wreaked havoc with DNA.

Scientists have been studying the effects of cosmic rays, and it is likely they have caused or contributed to extinction events.

Not quite something they're ignoring. It's just that it's something we can't do anything about.

Ozone is an elevated state of Oxygen which occurs when being stuck by a photon. Oxygen and much more heavy and abundant Nitrogen) is doing the protecting from UVc. But are apparently less adept at blocking UVb which fits Ozone better.
.
Ozone is the unstabile molecule that results. O3 quickly wants to be O2 again so it reacts with many things, natural and man made.
.
"Regular oxygen molecules, known to science-types as O2, are made up of two oxygen atoms stuck together. Solar energy shoots in from space and splits that molecule into two atoms. When one of those stray atoms attaches to a full-fledged O2 molecule, you've got, well, O3, otherwise known as ozone. All that action blocks solar radiation, and keeps it from reaching us."
.
https://www.nasa.gov/missions/earth/f-ozone.html
.
I guess the scientific concensus is still that O3 levels were lower in 1987 and have come back up.
.
But UV levels have continued to rise until 2010 is there something else at work here?

Actually the ozone layer didn't recover. They just don't talk about it so you forget about it and assume everything is good and they were right about everything.
In 2006 and 2010 the largest holes to date have been observed. This after Ozone depleting chemical levels in the upper atmosphere had been declination since about 2000.
Not that 40 years worth of observation is relevant for something as complex as the upper atmosphere.
You need at least a 100 years just because of the factors we know about such as solar maximum and minimum, solar events or the lack there of, El Nino years, volcanoes, intense wild fire years and so on.

I agree, it's the sun.

I should also add that no elevated levels of UV were ever detected at human inhabited latitudes.
Then 80% of CFCs were released in the northern hemisphere but only caused a hole in the south? Mmmmhmmmm...

Two things: First, it's good to see some mention of S0; I know another forum member intends to attend Observing the Frontier.

Watching the first three parts in order was dismaying. Part four just wraps it up.

Second: Cite please. I remember it as the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMartin_preschool_trial. i wasn't laughing, but I didn't buy because I had watched the sexual Revolution devolve into Gay Pride, at a time no-one would use the word pederast. Now that that taboo is broken (in Hollyweird) maybe this will start to sort out.

Your reference to the ozone hole is ironic - it isn't harming us BECAUSE WE STOPPED DOING what was causing it.

We know how to stop causing climate change, too.

The hole in the ozone is still there.

You think man kind can stop climate change?
How exactly?
