If it looks good the Insight will be converted to waste solvent also.

So I'm going to put all my energy into the Insight now and try to go for
100 mpg. I will be posting all the modifications on the Insight thread.
I understand not having a belly pan for that reason! It would not last anytime with such abuse! Be sure to coat your inner fenders and belly with WD-40 or a equivalent to inhibit rust on your beautiful car. You probably know this, but just in case

Let us know how that fuel system looks, because I may look into using WS as well

You will be able to get to 100 mpg by next year, no doubt If I ever get the turbo/ultra lean/engine mod stuff done, I'd love to give you a run for that prize...

Is there nothing you can do aerowise? Maybe more hidden OEM looking mods? I'm thinking adjustable grill block, belly pan, tire splats.
I forgot one major seasonal mod that i haven't done yet. By passing the front mount inter-cooler. This should help a lot while in lean burn. I will have to wait for the temperature to drop some more though. Right now our high forecast today is 62*F and low tonight 39*F. To make this work it needs to be below 32*F.

Thanks!!!

I'm going to enter the Talon into our last car show of the year next Saturday.
I will be answering questions at the show and directing people that are interested to this forum. I'm making some props to explain the mods.

I will take some pics at the show and keep everyone informed on how it goes. It should be interesting because the show is an open event with a lot of different types of rides.

At what point with a turbocharged engine is running lean a bad thing? I have my intercooler inlet on the bumper blocked off and am considering blocking off the radiator inlet with cooler temperatures approaching. I noticed last year with the intercooler inlet block that I started getting pre-detonation with spring warming temperatures. Upon removal of the intercooler block they went away. Seeing how you have extensive experience with turbos and running lean I figured you would be the best person to consult. School me o wise one

Great question.
This depends on the engine. The compression ratio will be the biggest factor, then the combustion chamber.

I'm running a very low compression ratio, around 8.4:1. I can get away with running up to 8psi and 20:1 A/F at 90*F IAT. As soon as the outside temps start dropping down below freezing I'm going to run a full grill block to bring up engine bay temps.

So to answer your question you will have to see what your particular engine can get away with? Start off with baby steps and keep an close eye on your knock sensor.

The engine runs at a 9.5:1 compression ratio. I currently cannot track the IAT or the knock sensor though using the factory installed display. Will a scan gauge work for tracking this? Or is something like torque more appropriate?

I would think a scan gauge would do the trick?
What is your setup?

Took the Talon to our last car show of the year and had a blast. Lots of great people and rides.

Answer a lot of questions and hopefully brought some interest to this forum
