Yep did a test yesterday, just a quick drive around my test area on 100% waste solvent. Made a global fuel enrichment adjustment in the fuel map and it ran great with no problems. I set the stioch at 13.7 A/F based on Toluene and Acetone. Also ran it up to 25:1 lean burn and it seems it has more power then normal pump fuel?

Captain I'm givin the engines everything they got

Well it looks like I have no more left to improve FE as far as the engine/car goes. As the weather gets colder my FE is dropping even with my single valve swirl mod.

The AWD parasitic drag on all the drive-train when cold just kills the FE. After looking at my data logs I'm needing more HP at the wheels to keep at my cruise speed. So around 43mpg average is all the Mistfit Talon has in her.

My goal was 50 mpg, so I'm a ways off. So now its time to put all my energy into the Insight and get a game plan this weekend to see what I will do with it.

Is there nothing you can do aerowise? Maybe more hidden OEM looking mods? I'm thinking adjustable grill block, belly pan, tire splats.

I will finish my full grill block this month. I'm not going to do a belly pan now because I want to rally the crap out of this thing in the snow, and I'm worried the belly pan won't last to long. So my plan is to put a bunch of miles on her this winter running 80% waste solvent. Then I will pull the fuel system apart and see how everything looks. If it looks good the Insight will be converted to waste solvent also.

So I'm going to put all my energy into the Insight now and try to go for
100 mpg. I will be posting all the modifications on the Insight thread.

Had a scare on my test engine "lawn mower"

Went to mow the lawn today and my lawn mower didn't want to start very easy, then when it finally fired off it didn't run very long. To those who haven't been follow this thread closely my lawn mower has been my waste solvent test bed since early Summer. My last test the lawn mower was running on 90% DTR601 reducer. So I took the carburetor apart and blew out all the passages check the float and needle and seat etc. I couldn't find anything that looked bad it was very clean. So I change the spark plug and dump out the DTR 601 and replaced it with pump fuel. Went to start it up and it still ran like crap. I had some starter fluid and when I sprayed it at the T/B it ran smoother so I knew it wanted more fuel and it was a lean condition. So I took the carb apart again and double checked everything. This time I noticed the o-ring on the manifold to carb look stretched so I replaced it and put it back again. It started on the first pull and ran great. So the waste solvent is killing the o-ring in which I thought this could be a problem? So now I will change out the o-ring every season has normal maintenance.

McMaster-Carr lists Viton O-rings. And they are a very good outfit to deal with. McMaster-Carr.

06 Canyon: The vacuum gauge plus wheel covers helped increase summer 2015 mileage to 38.5 MPG, while summer 2016 mileage was 38.6 MPG without the wheel covers. Drove 33,021 miles 2016-2018 at 35.00 MPG.

22 Maverick: Summer 2022 burned 62.74 gallons in 3145.1 miles for 50.1 MPG. Winter 2023-2024 - 2416.7 miles, 58.66 gallons for 41 MPG.
