Been chatting with a new DSM friend "LeanMeanDSM" that found my Talon on this site and he has been dealing in lean burn also. He mention in his last PM that hes been studying and testing LOP Lean of Peak. I found a nice article with video that describes LOP.
General Aviation Modifications, Inc.
I've been doing what is describe here for a few years now. I just didn't know it actually had a name.

And another article on lean mixtures: The Savvy Aviator #59: EGT, CHT and Leaning - AVweb Features Article. It's not the only article he's written on the subject, search the author's name and LOP for more.

John Deakin has also written a series of articles for AVweb » The World's Premier Independent Aviation News Resource on lean mixtures.

Well after two weeks of studying my data logs I'm going back to a single turbo charger.

The turbo compound is awesome at making tons of low end torque but its to much. I keep breaking transmission and drive train parts. I'm tired of repairing something every time I turn around.

The compound system also is a lot harder to tune when it comes to lean burn and fuel mileage. I'm building a lean burn hole in the fuel map intentionally. The hole is to keep the engine in lean burn. The turbo compound system pulls out of the hole to easily. When I was running the single turbo it made it easier to stay in this lean burn hole.

I'm going to start working on a anti lag system this winter to get away from some of the turbo lag from the single turbo system. This will only be used when I'm racing the car.

This weekend I removed all the turbo compound items and now I'm back to just the 13g turbo. Man what a slug. So this weekend the FP Black goes on her to wake her back up.

Well I got the FP Black mounted to the engines exhaust manifold. The poor 13g turbo was beat. I over spun the little guy more then a few times this year tuning the compound system.

I did some checking of the exhaust valves and everything looks great!!! So far I'm seeing no issues running waste solvent.

I'm getting rid of the Tilton oil pump since there is no need for it now. The FP Black will be the traditional gravity return oil system. So that should help with reducing the alternator load and improve fuel mileage?

We are having our second snow storm today and I can't wait to start driving this thing in the snow. It is a blast!!!

7:56 PM, Christmas day here in eastern Va.

70 degrees.

Yesterday and today we beat the previous all time record set 124 years ago. Sitting in my living room in a pair of shorts and no shirt. Heat has not run in 3 days. 76 degrees in the house.

Merry Christmas my friend, best of health to everyone. Trying to not let any mosquitoes in the house.

regards

We have around 3 feet of snow on the ground with a low tonight of 12*F right now its 19*F. The weather has been defiantly a strange on this year.

On the positive side you have a good supply of fresh water for cheap, clean electricity and hopefully some drought relief for those to the south or you.

Just a few updates on the Talon.

I ended up not driving it much this winter as I would of wanted to.
I'm doing a ton of paper building. Calculating different combinations and building a few more spreadsheets for analysis. Also I have been working on a new race fuel I'm designing.

I'm working on my exhaust system with the "boost exhaust cut out" this weekend. I'm adding a sealed oil separator catch can that will run both a exhaust evacuation system and a turbo inlet system.

I should have my 150 shot DP nitrous system done by the end of this month?

I'm also shopping for a back seat now, since I threw mine away.

Well thats it for now. Hope everyone is having a great 2016.

I finished my exhaust system with the "boost exhaust cut out" and the sealed oil separator catch can that runs both a exhaust evacuation system and a turbo inlet system.

The exhaust boost valve didn't work and it also made way to much back pressure before the valve would open all the way. So I have to go back to the drawing board once again. With the valve off it works awesome!!!

I also did some WOT testing and on the single turbo system its flowing
57 lbs/min on a 50/50 mix of pump premium and waste solvent with no knock.

I need to finish my FE ABA testing compound verse single turbo next. Our weather for this coming week will be in the upper 50's so I should be able to get some data.
