They are mutually exclusive! We have Winter, then two weeks with no mosquitos, then mosquitos until it's too cold to enjoy the outdoors.

Well, it's not quite that bad but you better not catch a cold in those wonderful short times of nice weather and no mosquitos or you'll miss em. Ha ha.

In the City of Winnipeg they actually fog for the mosquitos. Just don't leave the City...

I added a little weather thingy to my signature that'll help me and you convert to the other's temperature scale. Current Winnipeg weather.

Wow - I somehow missed the part about your work injury. That sounded nasty. Full recovery expected I hope.

I hope so too. Sixth concussion. This one has been a very long time. Nearly a year now.

Quick update on My Civic:

Got an estimate to repair wear and tear caused by the dodgy streets of Winnipeg (dodging potholes and hitting some). Upper ball joints, steering rack and pinion, wheel bearing right front, shifter bushing (That's been nasty for a very long time), exhaust pipe and new muffler. It's 2,500 and I know they missed a few things too (rear upper control arm bushings both sides, trailing arm bushings). I could do some of the work I suppose and save some cash, but no way am I messing with rusty exhaust work. Not ever going there again.

I'm looking to see what kind of used car I can get for that sort of money, preferably a newer Civic as I can transfer some parts to the new ride then.

Still might just go ahead and repair. I have not seen cut off switches installed in the newer generation Civics... Unless I have been out of the loop and someone has done?

That's a steep repair bill!

FYI: I put a kill switch in the '06 Civic I had a couple of winters ago. http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...1-a-29429.html

Sorry to hear about all tat repair work needed.

The 2001 and up Civics will have immobilizer electronics that give dudes headaches when they go for mods, like a kill switch.

But I do think you can do the most needful things here yourself for much less money: maybe all or most of it for $500 parts and a little welding labor. I replaced one wheel bearing, paying only a machinist with a press 20 or 30 bucks to press the new unit in. And I replaced my OEM muffler with a cheaper (and lighter/smaller) thrush paying a welder to attach it after I cut the old one off the exhaust. Pipes you could patch and paint against further rust.

Do you really need new steering? Man, thems some crappy roads!

I read your whole thread there again. I didn't see how you did it though it's good to know that you can.

What parts do you plan to transfer? Your car is the last year of the 6th gen Civic, and few parts transfer over to the 7th gen. And fewer yet to the 8th gen.

Kill switch can be done on a 7th gen:

I can't recommend a 7th gen Civic though. The 6th gen was a better car.

That's the link for the thread. I just skimmed through it and the project gets complete at post #40: you might work back from there to save a little time. It's nicely and cleanly done... good to know it can be done on a seventh gen civic.

Mostly parts that I have made, then cables, AGM deep cycle battery, winter summer tires, etc.

Good to know re: 7th gen Civic, thanks!
