Got passed by a black Tesla today. It's really hard to tell. Only the chrome around the side windows gave it away.

I see lots of these Chinese minivans in Uruguay, but never saw an electric one. They're usually fitted with gasser 4-cylinder engines ranging from 1.0 to 1.3L copied from Suzuki.

Wow, auctions are flakey! I mean I already knew this, but usually an old eco-car with 200k ish KMs (160k miles) will sell for scrap, or close to scrap prices around here at the auction. But every once in a while, you see a perfect example of "there's a sucker born every minute". 1997 Civic DX hatch, black with a spray painted hood, and a somewhat intact interior. It had, get this, 489k KMs (303k miles). It brought $700, plus auction fees and taxes. That's $952 out the door! I would have gotten a pic but it was a black car and it was dark when I saw it. I need to find out if the buyer has a large family, because have I ever got some deals for them! ha ha

Well i saw it behind me again! Must be a tourist or local resident. It stopped in the town of Stockbridge MA, but i didn't want to bother to see who it was.
Today i saw an original baby blue Mini! It so small! It took a turn fast like a go kart, and then parrellel parked with ease next to the british foods shop.
I know i said i wanted to round up these eco cars and have a FE rally. But i really don't have the charisma to pull it off. Also many of these eco cars aren't enthusiasts like i am, they just drive these cars like normal people. Maybe next year? I will say for better or worse, hybrid, electric, and Eco cars are now thoroughly embedded in our society for good. Many of these rare models have now become quite common sightings.

I saw a real Mini yesterday. It was burnt orange with Minilite mags, just cruising along past the library.
Years ago we saw a Austin Mini in the left lane of I-5 pacing a BMW Mini on the right. Quite a difference.

You know, I am really trying to break my auction buying habits on eco cars. But then I find something like this hidden at the back of the yard, and all my plans of fiscal restraint go out the window! It should be running through next week, hopefully I'll be the only person there that appreciates it.
1987 Civic, 1.3L, 5 speed, with a whole 175k KMs (108k miles). Pretty sure that's original paint, and there's no rust on it. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if this goes to the scrap guy, so I guess I will have to get there early on auction day so I don't miss it!
