Not sure what you mean, almost all station wagons are (were) four door.
...the 4-door hardtop station wagon...

If you search Youtube for this title you get a discussion between them which should know.

2-door wagons used to be quite popular in Brazil until mid-'90s, but anyway, what about the Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon with its concealed rear door handles? Ain't it beautiful?

Not mine, but I drove a green one in college, before all the VWs. The door window frames are a single aluminum extrusion, symmetrical so one part fit either side. The front and rear bumpers were a single part #. It didn't have an intake manifold, the carb bolts right to the head. It didn't have an exhaust header, the pipe clamped to the side of the block.

Another Ford Bi-Wing stepped louvered thingy-ma-jig, like the Merkur XR4Ti and Escort RS Cosworth?

Cobra 230 M.E. Concept

The purpose of the Cobra 230 M.E. concept was to explorer a styling theme for the upcoming mid-engine sportscar code-named GN34. It may or may not have represented the final styling of the GN34, which wasn't scheduled to go into production until at least 1989 anyway. But it does show Ford's thinking.

Anybody else noticed the "canines" / fangs on the air dam of the Chevy Cruze (and possibly a couple of other GM cars)?

I'll see if I can find a pic...

I’ve also seen something similar on the Spark... I vote that it’s for stiffness but I don’t know for sure

I love that Alfa... so beautiful... I’ve always wanted a 156 sedan, with the V6

I think if they needed stiffening they'd have put ribs on the backside. So I vote for aero trick but what for I don't know.

I wonder.

Given the position, I'm guessing it's something to do with air hitting the wheels.

Those vanes could be kicking up vortices or creating pockets of air that keep the air from sliding under the airdam right where the wheels are, possibly making a virtual airdam whose effect extends below the physical one right at that specific spot.

The ones on the Spark are also situated around the wheels.

Or (more realistically) it could be a way of simply kicking the air further out to the side so it clears the wheel wells.
