The lower you are pushing your car's CdA, the higher you are pushing your patience during glides... Suddenly while driving you are realizing that you spend more time with the right foot over the break pedal, ready to break (*), than touching the accelerator.

(*) it saved my car last week when a woman changed from the left lane to my lane just in front of me and braked hard when she realized she couldn't change to the right lane which was totally stalled. I just remembered seeing a "van of the year" sticker approaching at full speed right to my head... I don't remember how I successfully brake before megane's front would crash on her rear. The saddest is that the van had a "school bus" sticker on it...
It also saved me a lot of brake dust as the saved one second period (to change the right foot from the accelerator to the brake) permits to have a lighter push on the brake

Our well plugged up yesterday so we are using the vacuum cleaner to vacuum a bore for the new well. It works great.

When I'm driving with cruise control on (which is pretty well all the time when I'm on the flat in the Sonata), I keep my foot over the brake pedal. So far, I have saved myself from hitting 2 cars and a pedestrian thanks to it. The most amazing thing was that the pedestrian didn't even flinch, tires screeching and horn blasting, and yes, they did see me.

On all three occasions, had I not been using cruise control with my foot over the brake, I highly doubt I would have missed them, as they all had no warning at all, unlike most of the time when you can tell that someone is about to do something incredibly stupid so you can start to react before anything actually happens.

It is quite annoying to have some guy in a soundproof, windowless room trying to tell you how bad it is "out there." Leave the driving to me, and just spin the records, okay dude?

Your neighbours have a Civic Hybrid and their daughter has a brand new Jan 1st Reg Mk3 Prius.

And both are getting lower MPG than your last tank.

That 'look' when you mentioned it over drinkies at their place was good too

YKTAEM when out of habit, you check your other family members tires to see how low that their air pressure is .....and then see that not only are the tires low, but the alignment / balancing is so bad that literally three of four tires on their SUV are shaved bald on one side - and there is a small pit on one of the bald tires ready to blow !!!
This happened to me this weekend when my sister came down to visit in her new ( used ) SUV.
She had her mechanic service it before leaving.
As she left, the guy said vehicle was "ready to go". She even asked him to put air in the tires, so it's not like he wouldn't have seen the condition that they were in.
When I asked about the wobbly sound and rough ride, she said that she was told by the guy that this was because an SUV rides like a truck and it was perfectly normal.

My sister is my polar opposite and extremely intelligent.
Sometimes smart people just have too much going on to think of common sense things.
( It reminds me of the NASA rocket scientists in the early days. Despite their great intelligence, NASA had to hire someone to drive them around because they couldn't read a map and they kept getting lost. )

So ...yeah. I have to thank all you guys for giving me this habit. I just might have saved not only my sisters life, but also several others, had she flipped her SUV.

YKYAEMI ... you're kinda glad you bashed your air dam of your (newer) car against the curb because now you can attach some of that Home Depot edging you've been eyeballing without worrying about the drilling into the (now damaged) factory air dam.
