I changed the oil in my leaf today.
I stripped out the belly pan took it for a little 6 mile drive to churn up the oil then pulled the plugs.
The 6 mile drive warmed up the transmission some, I wonder if I could turn a drain plug into a transmission heater.

I hope you got the good oil for $30, a good filter for $12 and new plugs for $2 each and chucked the old stuff in the trash.
Seriously though I won't miss basic maintenance when I cross over. Must be nice!

Yeah the leaf transaxle has oil in it.
It's transmission is pretty much a parking lock, a single approximately 8:1 gear rario including the differential that can't be uncoupled between the wheels and motor, also some CV shafts.
Not like it has hub motors or some science fiction like that.

Some people are reporting efficiency gains... I'll probably do this soon, myself. Nissan says it's a lifetime fluid, but this is Nissan we're talking about.

At some point, I thought by 2015 Nissan recommend the transaxle oil be changed at 110,000 miles.
If you see it at 80,000 miles it doesn't look so good.
I did mine at 68,000 miles, should have did it as soon as I got it at 47,000 miles.
I won't really be able to tell if I get a range boost because I put my tire spats back on the passenger side after they got ripe off by a tractor trailer tire tread a few weeks ago today when I did the transaxle oil change.

I put 2 Michelin energy saver A/S tires on to replace worn out ecopia tires with 71,000 miles on them and it doesn't seem to have had any effect on range.
I was running 44psi in the worn out ecopia tires, only running 38 in the Michelin tires for now.

1,300 miles 3.6kwh per mile for November.
Did some trailering or it would have been more like 3.8 to 4.
