Absolutely. And a spirited 24 miles to deal with a family emergency can do it too. That got me down to 64 early in this tank. I am at 67.3 mpg (gauge display) and currently almost half the tank burned.
Got my new battery relocated to the trunk, got the passenger seat out to compensate for extra weight from the bigger deep cycle I chose, tires pumped up to 60+ psi, and I hope to bondo my HIDDEOUS ENGINEERING fiberglass flat decklid spoiler today or tomorrow. Since replacing the battery, I have been easily keeping 70+ when the spoiler is on, and with more radical hypermiling when the spoiler is off ...
I want that 70 mpg tank before the Autumnal Equinox! Get my hat picture!

Well, my new tank looked to be 70.5 MPG, but the fill came out about 69 MPG... so I missed my goal for me this summer. I did get the 70+ MPG tank back in 2014, but it was only a 7 gallon fill and I wanted a full 10+ fill. I will say that two straight tanks of 69 mpg despite long freeway drives for work, a little spirited driving one 25 miles stretch, and a failed deep cycle battery... well that's pretty awesome. When I got 70+ in '14 it was by strictly avoiding the freeways.
I am not going to continue to attempt 70+ over the next week, before the Sept 22 deadline... my car is much more fun when I drive more normally and get about 60+ MPG.
BUT I THINK I MIGHT RE-ATTEMPT THIS CHALLENGE NEXT YEAR ...
