Yes - moar mods!

I'm seeing 60+ MPG on 50 MPH trips with multiple aero mods on the new-to-me Mirage. That includes some engine-off coasting on either end of the trip and on some hills in the middle.

I haven't cracked 70 on a single trip in normal (for me) driving since I got it, though. Then again, it is mid-winter. It'll be a piece of cake in warm weather.

MAYDAY has passed and I am announcing the return of the 70 MPG challenge. See below for last year's initial rules and Hall of Fame results. Did I miss anyone? ("SRA" is single run average, and it counts, too.)

THE LISTS (no particular order):

1. FTA (Full Tank Average)
PaleCivic (96 Civic DX)
PaleFit (08 Fit Sport)
Winter-beater-Metro (00 Chevy Metro)
BlackFly (98 Metro)
Sport Coupe (92 Ford Tempo GL)
AerocivicLB (92 Civic CX/VX)
The Little Car (00 Chevy Metro)
Nut Wagon (91 Civic Wagon DX)
Daox's Paseo (97 Toyota Paseo)
...others...?

2. SRA (Single Run Average)
Swarthy (14 Mitsubishi Mirage DE)
Black & Green (98 Honda Civic DX)
... others ...?

I may partake again if I can finish all my mods and can get back into pulse and glide driving. With new aero additions 70mpg trips should be theoretically possible in warm weather, unless my new gearing proves to be ultimately detrimental to pulse and glide

Thanks for bumping this! I'm in again. I'm going to need some more mods to bump up my game though. Almost all my trips are under 5 miles now. Its really hard to get above 70 on such short trips.

You can go really slow on short trips without adding much extra time! Even better if the engine is mostly off!

Or let the car warm up for an hour before the trip!

I'd love to get 70mpg short trips again. My only chance of seeing those numbers now are on long, low speed highway trips with rolling hills. Perhaps when I get my oil warmer and block heater installed it will help. I might try dropping to a 0w20 on my next oil change as well.

This K24 engine is reasonably efficient when warmed up, but it takes forever to get warm in such a light car, and it's a pig when cold.

More mods! I have a plan, too. I want to continue the design, testing, and building of the flat decklid spoiler I started last summer.

Sounds like another single run average candidate! Pick a trip you know you'll need to make, pick it well in advance, and prepare?
