I would at least leave some air dam in front of the wheels.

Both isn't twice as good, so it's usually one or the other, but the belly pan needs to attach to something on it's front edge at about the height of the bottom edge of the airdam.

Absent some other opportunity, they could structurally reinforce each other.

Bad news- I took a look at the wheel skirts yesterday and saw they were rubbing off my paint, so I had to remove them. They will need to be reengineered. My car has bad enough paint already without me making it worse.

Question A. I need a new muffler. Will a new one help or hurt MPG?

Question B. Has anyone ever used a cheap Ebay tuner? They claim to be easy to install and add 1 or 2 Mpg, for which I would gladly pay $20.

I've never seen a muffler R&R affect mpg.
I don't know anything about ebay tuners.

I added a vac gauge today!!! It was really neat to watch the pressure and try to keep it high.

This is the one I got:

Anyone know what pressure is best? I've been trying to keep it between 12 and 22 Hg.

The engine will actually be most efficient at low vacuum, probably 3-5 Hg. High vacuum means low load, which is less efficient but uses less fuel with the same gearing. It's generally better to be in a higher gear with less vacuum than lower with more.

Forgive my objectio, but that seems backwards. Popular Mechanics says to cruise at high pressure. The pressure increases dramatically when I coast. Some gauges have the 0-10 area coded in red to signify poor mileage.

I'm not sure I understand this yet.

I'd like a vacuum gauge, but my motor is at the other end of the car. I thought about putting a 6-8" gauge on the rear bulkhead and viewing it in the rear-view mirror.

I looked at Google Images and the first four pictures all have Good or Excellent at the higher end. Or it could just mean you need to clean the air filter.

Nope, just replaced it.

All the Super Internet Research I've been doing indicates that either consistent high pressure or bursts of low pressure are best.

I actually read a post @Daox made on a different site about this.
