Thanks for the offer Xntrx. If you know of any engine modification that would make the CRX more economical, I would be very interested. As you know, except for the WAI, I have made no engine changes to the Red VX yet.

No problem.
First step is to figure out how much power you're willing to lose, typical mph, budget, and how realistically dedicated you are to those numbers.

Once you've got that, let me know, and I'll help you plan. I might be up that way this weekend, don't know yet.

Hey donkey, have you thought about extending the front to a point on the CRX? I can imagine that plus a boat tail would work extremely well if done right. Not to mention it would probably look awesome.

Thanks for the offer. I guess I was not thinking about the mods costing me power. The main reason I want to aero mod the CRX is it has more torque at lower speeds than the VX while in lean burn. I think I will wait til I can test the CRX with aero mods before I try any engine mods. But I will not give up on the idea that engine mods will help.

Based on driving both the CRX and VX prior to any modifications, I think the CRX has the potential to beat the VX by about 5 MPG. So my goal would be to get to tank MPG of 85 in the summer and 75 MPG in the winter with the completed CRX.

I will be in town over the July 4th weekend. PM me if you want to meet up.

Hey Wolf, at this point I am thinking I will try and conform to Aerohead's Template on the front and rear, since I know next to nothing about aero except what I have learned here.

I have really enjoyed this thread as many others have here. Donkey, your VX is built so well and looks really good. If your planning on one upping yourself with the CRX that to will be worth the price of admission to watch .

Thanks for the kind words Drainoil. I hope you guys enjoy my adventure as much as I will. Just remember I am old and slow, so be patient with me as I hit dead ends and have to start over many times. I feel very blessed to be healthy enough and able to spend time doing something I really enjoy without any pressing deadlines.

Been there done that, "old and slow" and "hit dead ends and start over", at least three times or more on every project. What used to take a week takes at least three months. Press on
