Anyone using magnets to increase milage?

Had ANYONE did proper A-B-A test with more significant results then measure error?

I know from reading first half of 21 pages that you are more than sceptical to the subject, but still...

Why I ask: my parents built a new house, and in first 18 months, they had to replace heating coil three times due to calking (incrustation?? - I don´t know the correct term). As a last resort, I installed one of these. It is two years and so far, it's O.K. No other chages were made (like new anode etc).
I don't know, why it happened. I doubt that water quality dramatically changed over time (they use water from water lines, not well). I doubt it is because house pipe system is cleaner now (six months should be enough to establish equilibrium). I doubt my parents life habits changed dramatically, so water flow in pipes and water consumption is same in general.
I am sure we can rule out placebo effect. So my conclusion is that it works.

It is apples and oranges, I know. thats why i ask.

So the conclusion is that there were metals that were accumulating and causing the lines to crust up, but the magnets somehow made the metals... disappear? Because if they were pulling the metals out of the water, wouldn't the line just be closed up where the magnets are?

It's not affecting the metals, it seems it affects the minerals. If prevents to build the mineral crust you can find in pipes and boilers after long use. We call it "vodní kámen", which means "water stone", but my translator doesnt know correct english term.

Its that stuff that builds inside a glass or kettle when you use it for long time. Vinegar helps to remove it.

Siefrob, You have seen the same results I have on water (city). I used the same magnets that I used on my cars. I put them on my inlaws because they had a water conditioner in the past. They installed a new gas furnace and a whole house humidifier. My job was to service the humidifier. The water pad, made from aluminum would get crusty with minerals in a short time (monthly). I installed the magnets on the main inlet and on the copper pipe going into the hot water tank and going out of the hot water tank. I monitored the water pad regularly and found the pad was staying clean for several years. I think the magnetics causes the minerals to become like polarity so they don't stick together and stay in suspension, and flow to drain. The magnets would have to be sized to the amont of water flowing through system.

Seifrob, I know what you're talking about. It's called calcium carbonate, or more generally limescale, which contains calcium bicarbonate:

Calcium bicarbonate is soluble in water, however at temperatures above 70 °C (158 °F) the soluble bicarbonate is converted to poorly-soluble carbonate, leading to deposits in places where water is heated. Local boiling “hot spots” can also occur when water is heated, resulting in the concentration and deposition of salts from the water.

I don't know how magnets would effect it, though

Hey, so I got a couple of neodymium magnets for Christmas, and the crazy thing is, my FE has gone up over 1 mpg since then! The great thing about these magnets is, I didn't even have to leave them in my car! They've been sitting on my cork board since I got them! Amazing!

NOW I understand why my truck gets good mileage. I have half a dozen neodymium magnets in a cabinet in my workshop. They are 3/8" X 1" X 2", so they have a REALLY GOOD force field.

Since they are so powerful, maybe I should put them in the truck. On the other hand, it would probably make gas, overflow the tank, and start a fire.
