Thank you! One of the biggest problems in my life has been your single-synapism about citizen science. What a relief (guess I'll have to find something else to worry about now). S0 sell books to finance a 'mobile observatory' which is really a motorhome they drive around to teach kids about weather.

If you accept Suspicous 0bservers (with a zero), be aware that they support the Electric Universe theory. See https://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/. They have more of an extraterrestrial focus. Here's The Essential Guide to the Electric Universe (EG2EU).
The far fringe would be Richard Hoagland with his counter-rotating tetrahedral planetary merkaba.
I believe in news aggregators, as opposed to social media. Slashdot was one of the first, and still has the best comment moderation system ever. Another early one was https://boingboing.net/ I still visit every day, but they have acquired an 'Orange Man Bad' leftist mindset I find irritating.
Of course if you have a .org and a .net, you need a .com. That's fark.com.
Xist -- Does your 'some weirdo' have the initials A. D.? I fear you may be being culturally insensitive.
Boing Boing has a story today on the Newtek Video Toaster. https://boingboing.net/2018/12/03/th...toaster-w.html

I still remember the Video Toaster being demoed by Kiki Stockhammer at an Apple conference.

Finally. Some of the real situation is starting to enter the main stream green media. Transitioning all cars to electric will only save 11% of oil. Even if solar and wind grow by 9X in 2035, fossil fuels will still be 77% of total primary energy considering world growth. It is not just a matter of choice of where we get our energy. We are stuck using all of the above. The fastest possible pace of solar and wind build out can't replace what we need to maintain the economy. And fossil fuel energy will eventually start to slip away. Leaving us short and broke. Anyone alive in 20 years needs to start getting ready now.

I am surprised this is the first time someone has mentioned it. How many of you believe North America needs Europe-level has gas prices?
Who believes they do not go far enough?
How is Macaroni's pen stroking working out?

I should begin my solar install Wednesday, as long as the electrician doesn't cancel on me again.
Local coop requires that I have to have the sparky pull permits, install the co-gen meter base and sign off on the meter to panel portion of the install.
I'm already providing most of my own heat for winter from wood I have collected and harvested on my land, upgrade and expanded the electrical for EV charging to include 8kw DC rapid charging and I have only lived at my current place for about 13 months.

Look what their high gas prices got them.
A rioting city. We don't need that along with their failed BS social programs. We have our own.

100,000 people are marching in Poland at the climate meeting demanding that the governments "Do something". Even though they have no idea of the scale of what they are asking. By a factor of 100.
.
And 100,000 people are marching in Paris demanding that Macron "Stop doing something".

Well one group marches and says do something.
The other group burns the city to thank them for doing something.

Macaroni's plan speaks for itself, and was clearly the wrong approach.
As I've been saying, we should slowly be raising federal taxes on fossil fuels, on a published schedule, so that the market and public have plenty of time to prepare. You don't jack the price of fuel up in one stroke. Maybe something like 1 cent per gallon increase every month, starting a year from now. That works out to something like an extra $30 for the average person the first year, but continues to get more expensive over time.
