Scott Adams Episode 515 is saying that Third Generation nuclear has a history of zero melt-downs and quotes a statistician's viewpoint
Quote:
...alright it's dr. caleb
Rossiter and his is money quote is that
we're trying to save the people of the
planet from the people saving the planet
so his his basic thesis is that carbon
and warming have only been good net and
very good for the world so far and that
statistically speaking there is not
there's not evidence that the co2
increases that we've seen already are
going to create any kind of calamity and
in fact it might all be positive.
|
Tony Heller thinks the data is fudged, others think the climate science is wrong, but the statistical view is that the interpretation is wrong.

I've brought that topic up already; that warming has been a good thing for humanity so far. It's unclear if that trend will continue, but we're certainly better off than the ice age 11,000 years ago.
Somewhere there is an ideal mean temperature for the earth, and finding out what that is seems nearly impossible to calculate. My WAG is that the ideal temp is slightly higher than current, but not much higher. Any warmer than that ideal temp, and the negative consequences start to nudge out the positive ones.

Is it Okay if Scott Adams agrees with you?
I was going to put this in Xist's thread about building a shed, but consider it here. The Pacific Northwest has deposits 30 ft deep of the ash that the [Ancient] Romans used to make concrete with Pozzolan, unreinforced and underwater. In a Youtube video (Supervolcanoes in the Pacific Northwest
54,427 views — Central Washington University — Published on Apr 25, 2019) At 42:00 we find out that the big dams that Woodie Guthrie (Arlo's dad) sang about were made with it. That explains their white color.
Truckloads of that stuff would facilitate producing ecological pod houses.
edit: How about a little of this? [Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider]
Episode 516 Scott Adams: The World’s Dumbest Tweet AOC, It’s a Doozy
A 15 minute rant on — it's not just dumb it's dangerous to say fossil fuels haven't improved human health.

I was thinking about AOC's Green New Deal and it caused me to look up Primrose Path. It turns out that it's a quotation from Hamlet.

I GOOGLED it,went to the website, read the first five paragraphs, and I disagree with every premise mentioned.Going any further would seem a complete waste of time.
Why the author criticizes others is a mystery,as he appears to have no command of the science, physics,or economics involved with the issue.

Dr. Rossiter couldn't possibly be acquainted with the science and say the things he says.
As to gen-3 reactors, they've only been in service since 1996,a fraction of their design life. How anyone could extrapolate current performance out to 60-years of operation seems kind of dubious.

Those who've already died from climate change aren't here to argue. Those who survive them, and are picking up the pieces of their lives may want to chime in.
Any command of the actual climate science would make it impossible to make such comments.I can't call it intellectual dishonesty.Obviously, there was never any effort to know the difference.

Perhaps you missed some of the conversation pertaining to fossil-fuel-induce extinction. That would be a health implication in the negative.
'improved human health' is a perfectly contextual comment, and is valid, only within the extremely myopic worldview in which it is framed.
