For me it's some combination of natural gas, wind and coal, with a little bit of solar some days.

For me it's correct design, insulation, airflow and concavity with paint that radiates heat directly to space. With wind-powered ventilation and auxiliary HVAC.

You need a constituency that remains relatively poor, who believes that the key to their prosperity lay outside of personal agency. You also need a smug constituency that believes they have helped others by convincing them they are incapable without them, and their generosity with others resources.
