One you realize weak renewables aren't working.

Lignite? That's almost not coal.
Quote:
Lignite
Lignite, often referred to as brown coal, is a soft, brown, combustible, sedimentary rock formed from naturally compressed peat. It has a carbon content around 25–35%, and is considered the lowest rank of coal due to its relatively low heat content. When removed from the ground, it contains a very high amount of moisture which partially explains its low carbon content. Lignite is mined all around the world and is used almost exclusively as a fuel for steam-electric power generation. The combustion of lignite produces less heat for the amount of carbon dioxide and sulfur released than other ranks of coal. As a result, environmental advocates have characterized lignite as the most harmful coal to human health. Depending on the source, various toxic heavy metals, including naturally occurring radioactive materials may be present in lignite which are left over in the coal fly ash produced from its combustion, further increasing health risks. Once again there's probably more energy in the Thorium than the Carbon.

Subatomic energy potential is orders of magnitude greater than chemical energy potential by weight/volume.
I mentioned it before, but i was surprised to learn that Earth's core heat is sustained by nuclear decay; mostly Thorium. Most of my life I assumed it was residual heat from formation plus tidal friction.
Humanity is only scratching the surface of potential.

It's quite ironic, but maybe a newer single wind turbine could be installed near the location of this former wind farm.

The potatous says "coal plants are going to be shutdown and replaced with renewables such as wind and solar".
Reality: coal plants are largely being replaced with natural gas fired power plants and some wind.

I was explaining oilpan4 and his coal furnace to my wife last night. She thought the concept was fantastic, but she also still has the change from her first dollar earned.
Up side is i have the go ahead to go solar, I just can't spend any money to get it.
